Has anyone seen or tried one these? are they new? Looks intresting, seems once dirt gets under the guard it would be tougher for it to get back in the clean water area.

I got one before I got an actual grit guard, it`s different for sure and it does work at keeping dirt on bottom but not so well at cleaning out the mitt. But that is my experience so I have it sitting under the grit guard

CHEMICAL GUYS DIRTTRAP "grit guard"

I have two of this style and two of the old style. This style seems to do better at keeping the dirt below the guard instead of the older free flowing holes that allowed lighter particles to float back up. I like this style much better. But as the previous post stated, it doesn`t clean the mitt as well but they sell an attachment for that, it fits at a 45° angle onto this trap and it works great.

I would like to try a Grit Guard stacked on top of the dirt trap. The dirt trap looks better at containing sand/fine debris at the bottom of the bucket. The Grit Guard has larger grates/openings which look better at agitating the wash media and dropping the debris towards the dirt trap.

Would help if I read others posts first. My great idea was already mentioned.

sounds like new toy to try, maybe a grit guard on top maybe trim down the bottom space fins to half there size.
