cheap wen orbital can polish a little

Did a ton of searches and the general consensus was that the cheap random orbitals can't really do correction/polishing. But since I have an 8" Wen and little disposable income, I picked up some SSR 2.5 and 1, and a few viking microfibre bonnets from Autozone ($6 for 2).

Process:

A line of 2.5 across the bonnet, no pressure at all on the machine (lets the pad spin as fast as possible) and let it run until it began dusting. Wipe off with microfibre.

Swapped bonnets and did the same with SSR 1. There was a thread on whether or not SSR 1 does anything, and I found that by hand or cheap machine, SSR 1 is totally necessary. Quite a bit of hazing otherwise.

The outcome is definitely not perfect, but there is marked improvement. This is on Acura paint, but was able to get similar results on the wife's Oldsmobile. It's slow going, but easier than elbow grease. Just an option for those of you that might have these and aren't ready for the PC yet. And as horrible as it sounds, I used the "wooltex" bonnet on the wife's Oldsmobile and it actually helped speed things up quite a bit.

I think it took about two minutes for the product to dust on half a panel? My time perception is all out of whack, sorry.

Isn't the Poorboy's line free of fillers? From searches, I was under that impression, which is why I chose them.

I get decent results using a Wen Orbital too. The scuffs took 4 passes of MPPC to clear, the rest of the body only needed a once over.

Since I live in an apartment I use the Wen running off a jump-start battery pack and power inverter. Very handy to clean paint and apply sealants thin.

I don't seem to be able to break down most polishes with it though. I do defect removal at my parent's with a "grown-up" RO :waxing:
