Cheap Ibrid nano alternative

A few of us have been talking about a cheap Ibrid nano alternative. There was even a thread awhile back with some comments here http://www.autopia.org/forums/paint-correction-and-gloss-enhancement/186780-cool-dremel.html

I ordered 1" and 2" pads and backing plates with 3mm shanks to go along with my variable speed rotary tool, right angle attachment, and flex hose. It works great to get into tight spots like door handles, around mirrors, bumpers, door jams, painted window trim, ect. The key to this setup is a variable speed rotary tool. With the 1" pads I use speed 2 or 3 depending on how much pressure applied to the pad and which pad I`m using. With 2" pads I use speeds 3,4,or 5 depending on pad and pressure. Both the right angle attachment or the flex hose works great with the pads, just have to remember it`s a rotary and to keep the pad moving. Here are some pic`s of the setup.

+1 !!! Great alternative, I have similar setup minus the Angle, and a flex shaft instead . Just adding as a testimony of this being a good alternative.

I give credit to Mike for helping me source some of the stuff.

We helped each other find stuff. Good looking setup Migue! I think people who try this will be surprised at how well it works for tight areas.

Interesting...are you able to say where you got the pads and backing plates from? I may have missed it but I didn`t see it in this thread or the one you linked.

Love the idea! But would be too afraid of burning through my paint... it`s still a rotary after all.

I hear ya, Did great on headlights, obviously will not remove scratches but takes care of yellowing in those tighter areas closer to the bumpers when it`s hard to reach using a 3" . I`ll be testing mine on a test hood soon to measure how much it removes and purposely try to burn through the paint. Speed 1 is good enough and not overkill as long as you keep it moving and adjust your pressure (like a large standard rotary) .

Awesome! glad you guys did this! Look forward to your hood tests.
I have a nano but I am still contemplating doing this set up as well for those really tight areas that sometimes even with the nano due to the angle can be challenging.
if the nano had a swivel head that would have been great!

Ordered the pads and backing plates from Aliexpress. If you would like the links PM me I would be glad to share.

Not for sure about other brand rotary`s but I have a Dremel 3000 variable speed and speed 1 won`t quite spin the pad on speed one when touching something. Speed 2 or 3 with this rotary I felt like I had a lot of control. It`s not wide open out of control speed like some think. Just keep the pad moving slow and you will be fine.

dumb ? Maybe need to look into this. What payment forms are used on Aliexpress ?
Just looked

What payment methods can I use?

I actually sorta like PP for this, as I would not be give AE my CC info....

It never hurts to be cautious with CC info that`s for sure. Paypal is a good way to pay. I can tell you from my experience with ALIEXPRESS I have had 0 problems in hundreds of transactions, they are a stand up company. I have got a few things that were not right or not working but they have always made it right by giving my money back in a refund. I know several others that order often from there and have had good experiences like me.

Shipping can sometimes take a bit so you have to have some patience. A friend and I both ordered 21mm on the same day on Aliexpress from the same store and he got his about a week and a half before I got mine. But it was really worth the wait, it`s fantastic and the price was killer!
