Cheap Clay Magic?

Where is the cheapest place to get the blue clay magic? None of the stores around here (Hawaii) have them.

So $25 is the cheapest?

Also is it possible to burn the paint with wax with a PC? Does it have something to do with if it has cleaners? Does the TW Platinum Series Ultra Gloss Liquid Wax contain cleaners?

From what I have read it shouldn't burn your paint unless you leave it in the same spot for a while. If you just keep it moving it should be alright.

No it's usually not possible to burn the paint with a PC. It will only happen after you hold the PC in one place for many minutes while at a high opm.

Burning through the paint is caused more by excessive friction and heat, so it doesn't have too much to do with cleaners.

I believe TWPUG does have some cleaners.

And if you could, I think it would be a better idea to either search for the questions you asked, or separate the questions into separate threads. It makes threads much more organized that way.

i don't think you could burn paint with the PC unless you are using an aggressive 4" pad (orange or yellow LC)...and then it would take quite a while to burn through. a larger sized pad (6"+) would take hours in one spot to cause damage, i would guess. anyone want to test and see? :)

You can definitely burn paint with a PC in just a minute or two. I've seen it happen and I've personally done it just to prove a point. On a warm summer SoCal day, all you have to do to burn your vehicles paint (especially on plastic panel coverings) is set the PC to speed 6 with a flat foam cutting pad and hold it on the same point with ~15lbs of pressure for 60 seconds and you'll see the clearcoat get cloudy and or appear gummed up.

If you have an automagic distributor around you can get it off the truck for just under 20 bucks a bar.

Or you can buy the 6 pack and i think you get 6 for the price of 5. which is like 99.xx. something like that.

arent we lucky....i get them at autozone for 10.99 with a lubricant too.....

i was thinking about buying lots of them and selling them here for 15+shipping...

if you can't find the clay magic, i was at my local walmart (i'm sure most all have them now) last night and noticed they sell the mothers clay bar (80 gram bar, showtime qd, and a small bottle of cleaner wax) kit for $11.24, iirc. lately, it seems that walmart is stepping up the auto section...

That's a great price. Kragen has that kit for $16.99. I'll have to check the local WM.

what size bar though?

The BIG bar size is 200 grams. The one in the kit with the clay lube is 100 grams. Seriously, if you can find the kit with the clay lube for $11 locally, just buy two kits and you've got your 200 gram bar PLUS two spray bottles of lube!

Just food for thought,

-Mike
