Hello all, I'm currently in the process of trying to correct and perfect my process of jeweling... :furious:
Tools: I have the Makita, and the Flex DA... I always start of with the Makita to do the correcting and finish off with the Flex DA to do my last two steps of polishing along with the necessary pads, compounds, and polishes... No complaints on either one of the tools, I love them. Easy to work with, and get the job done wiht ease. :bow
Pads: I've been using lake country pads, surbuf pads, interface pads, and black lambswool pads.. Obviously the defects and types of clearcoat dictate what kind of pad and product combo I use... No complaints either on any of these pads they are great. They dont absorb too much product, great cutting power and finish the paint quite nicely. :bow
Products: All the products I use are from Meguiars, compounds, polishes, and waxes.. As I am starting to realize, I need to expand my collection of compounds and polishes to accomodate the clear coat's needs. I mainly use M105 and M205, along with a few others. But I would like to start finishing down by rotary and I have noticed that for SOME types of paints these products dont leave the best finish. :hmph:
My Thoughts: I understand the process of jeweling can be argued when using a DA machine, some say it works just as good some say it doesn't. Some say that it's not considered jeweling at all.
Through my expierementations, and procedures I have come to find that the process that yields the perfect paint finish (IMO!!!) is using a rotary and only a rotary to perfectly level the paint. :nixweiss
My Problem: I still have not been able to achieve a perfectly leveled paint surface ( hologram free, swirl free, defect free, etc...) using ONLY a rotary. I believe I have not been able to do so because of the products ( compounds and polishes) I use. As I have not tried some of the leading products such as 3M, or Menzerna... Only Meguiars.. :angry :hairpull
My Question: Can someone with EXPERIENCE, maybe create a chart or something similar with different products..
1.Manufacturer name...
2.Type of product ( Heavy Compound, Compound, Heavy Polish, Light Polish, Finishing Polish, etc...)
3. Place them in order from most aggressive to least aggressive...
4. If they are most compatible with soft clear coats, hard clear coats, or ceramic clear coats...
5. Play time with the product ( how quick it flashes)...
6. How good it breaks down...
Any input from you guys is greatly appreciated!!!!! :woot2: :waxing: :woohoo:
