Charlie's Soap left soapy goo on everything!

UPDATE/ CORRECTION: Fast forward to Dec 2007... and I am now a CS believer. As the old saying goes, RTFM! Useing the correct amount and cleaning out the tub FIRST with CS is the way to go! I use CS to clean lots of things from my detailing fabrics to my wife's bras! LOL So, it was user error on my part.

==========================================

After reading all the praises of Charlie's, I finally got some.

So, I threw all my MF's and other towels in the wash, added one scoop of Charlie's, and let the wash cycle go. When I heard the 'buzz' of completion, I went to the washer.

When I opened the lid, there was this soapy goo all over the towels and all along the washer tub, about the level of the waterline. It took me 4 additional wash cycles with no detergents to get it all out. Consequently, I'm not too impressed with Charlie's at the get-go. :angry

Did I do something wrong?* Do I use half or a tenth of the recommended amount of Charlie's? :nixweiss

* yes, I know how to do laundry.

Thanks for any wisdoms,

Ian

Did you clean the wash tub with CS prior to using it? I think what your seeing is the remnants of what you use to use! They always recommend cleaning the tub by using a scoop of CS, running the machine with hot water. This will clear out the old soap remnants.

Patrick is right on. The Charlie's Soap is removing the residues left behind by your old soap and probably the gooiest stuff--fabric softener.:think2

Sorry but it seems you used way too much powder. First of ally ou shouldn't be using powdered soap but that's a whole other subject. You say you used one scoop... how big was that scoop? Did you use hot water?

Keep in mind, your towels are not fragile lingerie, you shopuld really be using regular liquid detergent such as Tide or All and HOT water.
