CG HoneyDew Snow Foam

Always use and love Megs Gold Class but thought I'd try CG Honey Dew Snowfoam in my foam gun. I had no choice but to wash in partial sun, like I sometimes must. Kept the car wet at all times and pulled into the garage to dry.
I had some major water spots on the hood that would not come out. Never experienced that before at all. Is there something different in this snow foam? :wall

Hmm...

This is interesting. I have gone through an entire gallon of HDSF and have not noticed soap spotting during regular use. The only time I had any issue was when I let the soap sit to long and dry or if I washed in the sun and everything started to evaporate. But then I would have water spots as well.

The only other thing I can think of is that maybe you didn't "blast" the soap hard enough to get it to release and wash away. I have noticed certain soaps cling to dirt and body panels more and require a strong blast of water to release.

That could be exactly what I have done wrong. I am new to using the foam gun but the Megs Gold Class must be much more user friendly.

Maybe you had too much Honeydew in your foam gun? Honeydew is 4x more concentrated than Megs Gold.

Honeydew 1/4 oz / Gallon
Megs Gold 1 oz / Gallon

I could see the higher concentration of detergents being difficult to remove like Troy stated if the dilution ratio was too high.

I would give it another shot and try using less in your foam gun.

Soap spotting? I'm new to this site and hadn't heard this term before. I've read Mike Phillip's book, and another, and some threads....don't recall this term.

But makes me wonder if my friend experienced the same thing on his Red 370z. He used CG Mr Pink

Do you have a pic of these spots?

I interpret this to mean that they look like water spots but they were a soap solution instead of water because insufficient rinsing. Some heavy sudsy soaps are difficult to rinse cleanly. The problem is if you use a free rinsing soap (Poorboys or Ultima comes to mind) you may be lulled into thinking the same quick rinse may do.

HD is the foamiest snow foam I have ever used. The foamier the soap - the harder to rinse. This can actually be an advantage during a pre-wash; as blasting off all that foam usually leaves the car fairly clean.

I have been using HD for a while, and there is nothing really to it that makes it spot. It's likely technique related, you have to keep a dark car wet if working in the sun.

But, your goal should not be just to keep the panels (and glass) wet - but cool. So, more water spayed in a wider pattern more often will help achieve this.
