Cerium Oxide? Anyone ever used it?

Hello all. I just love this website! Anyway, I have some scratches in my windshield that I would consider just a little more than minor. My fingernail doesn't stop when sliding over them. I have ordered some Cerium Oxide and polishing wheel from JC Whitney. But, I would like to know if this approach is viable in removing the scratches. What are the problems encountered in using this powder? Can it actually do some damage if too much pressure or excessive length of time is used? Does anybody have any FAQS on how to use this stuff?

Thank you again..

Jack.

Yes, I've used it (not the JC whitney kit) and it absolutely works to take out small scratches that aren't deep enough to feel with a fingernail. The cerium oxide itself is much like flour (cooking flour) and is very easy to work with.

You won't have to worry about doing any damage (further damage), as the powder isn't all that aggressive.

Be prepared to spend some time.
