Ceiling fabric coming off.

I have this customer who liikes to get a regular Exterior AIO and a thorough interior vacuum and wipedown. The customer is very nice and always gives a nice tip. Everytime I clean it I notice the customer's ceiling fabric of the car coming off and just hanging there.

I would like to sort of temporarily fix this as the customer has no intention of really doing anything about it and it really takes away from the inside job. Even if its only a thorough surface cleaning.

Any OTC products to just have it stay up?

My dad's Buick has this problem. I have done everything from 3M spray adhesive to some fabric glue my mom got for it. Nothing last long, especially in the summer months. For what it is worth, I had a new cloth headliner put into an old car of mine a few years back for under $100.

The headliner is foam-backed fabric and the foam is degrading. Because of that, when teh cloth pulls away you're not likely to have any success with adhesive solutions at all, you'd be trying to glue something to crumbling foam. On one old car I didn't care about the appearances of, I used rows of short screws and washers. The only proper solution is to replace the headliner.

I don't know of any temporary fixes but in general this is a pretty simple thing to fix. You can buy the fabric at the auto parts store along with the glue. Pop the old ceiling off (usually held in with some pins and or a couple of screws), tear off the old fabric, spray down some glue and lay down the new fabric. Once dried just pop the ceiling piece back in. I did it once to my old car a few years ago and it took about 45-50 min., it took a few just to figure out how to remove and get the thing out trough the door :wall . Maybe you can fix it for him and just charge him a few extra bucks.
