CD-2 and You!

I recently found a shop like literally across the street from my house that sells the CD-2 Engine Detailer so I plan on picking up a couple cans soon. Yet, I'm wondering how all of you CD-2 users use it considering we all have different methods of detailing our engine bays.

I'm interested in hearing everyone's engine detailing approach with CD-2. So let's hear it!

When I used CD-2, the can's directions said to spray everything down, then close the hood and go for a 15 minute drive. The heat was supposed to help dry/cure the spray. This worked very well for me; places that were still damp or had splotches cleared up nicely, and the resulting shine on all the plastics and hoses seemed to last longer than other dressings I've used.

Ah, CD-2, we hardly knew ye . . .

It's hard to screw up CD-2

CD-2 is a beautiful thing I have to say! I just recently used it for the first time.

After doing the initial cleaning, I sprayed on the CD-2, then just left it and, to be honest, forgot about it. I think I went and got groceries or something. When I finally remembered and opened the hood, I was very impressed! Made my engine bay look like new again with hardly any effort!

Tort, are you saying that CD-2 is going to be discontinued? I thought someone indicated that before.

Pennypacker,

I believe it already has been discontinued (unless it's been reformulated and re-released, which I haven't heard anything about). It disappeared from my market (Omaha) about a year, maybe a year and a half ago. I'm pretty sure the reason for discontinuation is that CD-2 is solvent-based, and it ran afoul of the new VOC regs.

You can still find CD-2 in some spots, but I *think* it's all old inventory. I'd love to be proven wrong . . .

I just purchased a can of this stuff and asked the cashier if they still got regular shipments of this stuff and he wasn't really sure. Either way, he said they still have quite a bit left and I noticed that those cans have been sitting there for a while (pretty dusty).

Can't wait to use this stuff... when I get back from Laguna Seca.
