Yesterday while detailing my Lexus, I caught the cord of my Makita and yanked into the car. Orange pad, M105, speed 1.

Result? Minor burn in the clear coat. It is about an inch by 1/4 inch.

Minor, but since search is down, how do I (or can I) repair this? It does not appear to be very deep.

Kind of bummed out that I would be that clumsy. I would appreciate any help at all.

Is it an actual burn or scuff? Can you provide pictures of the damage so we can properly assess it?

If its a burn and through the clear coat then a respray would be in order. If its just a little scuff you should be able to remove it with another pass of M105 or even light wetsanding. How did you catch the cord? Do you just let it hang and not put it over your shoulder?

Over the shoulder. The cord caught under the front tire where it connected to the extension cord. Grr. I will see about a photo... I am thinking wetsanding and then buff it down.

I cannot get a photo that actually shows the spot. It is moonlight pearl (see avatar) and nearly impossible to photograph the details.

I showed my wife and she had a tough time finding it.

It essentially looks like it was wet sanded in that spot and not yet buffed down.

If I wet sand it out, please recommend a regimen. What grit to start with and so on....
