I'm not sure how many people on here have little kids, but I have two. And that means car seats. In my experience, they have a nasty habit of DESTROYING seats, especially leather. Does anyone know of a good way to install a car seat without it wearing into leather.



I've tried to put a towel under it, and that protects the seat pretty well, however, the carseat moves around alot which I don't think is particularly safe. I've found one website that recommends using those rubber mesh pads that people use to line kitchen cabinets. I've got those in my G35 right now and the seem to be working great, though the car is only a week old so it's too early to tell. Not to mention that they only come in goofy kitchen cabinet colors so they look retarded on my black leather.

I've been using towels to prevent the carseats from damaging the leather. However, if you have the carseats installed properly, they should really be pressing into the backseat. This might cause permanent stretching or indentations in the leather over time. That's just something I've resigned myself to live with.



I would be worried about about those rubber kitchen pads. In the high temps of the car interior, the pads might melt or transfer some chemical or paint to the leather.



I've seen car seat covers made for the backseats to protect from pets. They're a bit more expensive than the kitchen pads, but they'll look a lot better.



How old are your kids? Eventually, they will graduate to booster seats which don't have to be tightly anchored down, so they won't be as rough on the seats.

Wow! Those look like they would do the job. Too late for me, my kids are in boosters, so I'll just stick with the towels (more for the mess than protection from the carseats)

One booster and one car seat and that was my worry too.

I also recommend those seat protectors. I used a towel in my car since it's an older car and didn't much care. The seat still left an indentation, but didn't ruin the seat. We have the seat protector in our SUV and it works great. As someone else mentioned though, even with the towel the car seat shouldn't move, mine doesn't except I can sort of twist it side to side, but nothing you can do about that. Just make sure you put your knee in the bottom of the seat and press hard while you buckle it or tighten the seatbelt.

Agree with GlassFinish...these are great. Have one in my wife's car and it works great. All I have to worry about is cleaning up the spilled milk on the seat, door, floor, back of the front seat, etc LOL
