Carrand Applicator from WalMart

I just purchased an applicator from WalMart for $4. It comes with 1 foam, 1 terry and 1 MF applicator. Basically the handle of the applicator grips onto the foam, terry and MF similar to velcro. Has anyone used this applicator before? It seems that it would work fine but my only concern is if the pad slips off the handle then you might scratch your car.

Any thoughts?

I'm not able to find any pictures on their site or anywhere else. I've never seen the Polishing Pal so I don't know. I used my Meg's foam pad and tried and it seems to work well. There is no special pad needed. Whatever material pad you use, the handle is able to grip it while applying the polish/wax.

Ya, I can probably do it tonight when I get home after I take my wife out for dinner, after I stop at the market to buy my gear for the chicken wings that I'm making tomorrow. :)

I have been buying these at Walmart for a few months now. Really like the foam pad it comes with and the applicator works great.

Are you talking about the black foam pad? I noticed that they specify that it should be used for tires which had me thinking, maybe it's to harsh for paint?

I got one of these a few weeks ago also. Have not done a spring polish/wax yet, only wash/QD. Grabbed a few of Walmart's blue MF applicators also. Was hoping to find some Meguiars yellow foam pads, but they were all gone. What is the deal on the black foam on paint?

Here are the pics.

Wow, that's pretty interesting, thanks for posting those pics. I wonder if that handle would work with a 4" pad, or if it doesn't have enough velcro area. That Polishin' Pal is a bit overpriced IMO.

I bought one of those at Advanced last week. It came with with MF and tight cotton loop pads. Once spring rolls in I'm giving it a shot.

As seen in the photo, the Megs applicator is 4" and the applicators it came with are about 5" so it should work fine. It actually cost about $3.50. As soon as the weathers cools down here in So. Cal. I'm going to give it a shot. It's supposed to be 90* here this weekend.

The package reads: Grip uses hook fasteners to firmly hold pad in place. Apply liquid to pad and apply. It's very similar to velcro.

how does the velcro hold up against the pads? does it seem flimsy, to where it barely holds onto the pads and can un-do itself easy?

It's really not velcro perse but it works like velcro. Just think if it like super velcro. It grabs the pad and keeps it from slipping. My only concern is if it slips off and your hand keeps moving you may scratch your car. I guess I'll have to try it out and see how it work. It can undo itself since the pad does not have actual loops like velcro but when you apply pressure it holds on quite nice.

that's what i was concerned about as well. the last thing i want to do is use that and apply pressure, only to have it slide off and then grind the velcro/handle right into the finish...

Products like liquid polish, tires foams and gels probably wouldn't be a problem since a lot of pressure isn't required to apply them. I'm thinking since waxes are thicker and need to be spread out evenly maybe using the handle with wax isn't a good idea. I'm going to try it out with a wax on flat painted surface before I use it.

The handle does not even slip a little and I have used it with paste waxes.

That's great news. I'll be usings 1Z PP and 476s. Did you use the black applicator for your polishes or waxes?
