Carpet Soap Residue

Fishpimp

Anything but Boring....
Just detailed a 2004 Mercedes E320. I went to shampoo the carpets and foam started coming from everywhere. I dumped my shampooer and went with a 1:4 Distilled vinegar and water. I pulled on the carpet for 3 hrs and it was still soaping up. Poor car the last place they took it to really did a number on them. It is true that too much soap attracts alot of dirt. The carpet looked dark grey but most of it was just soap residue....

Have any of you guys ever come across anything like this?

I have seen that many times. I think it could be that they used a high foaming shampoo and by hand. When doing it by hand some people think they need to use alot of water, but the shop vac will not recover it all. They should be using alot of foam and little water. Most of the time I can tell if a shop vac and alot of water was used, beacuse the interior gets a funky smell.

Not only the smell but the carpet browning. Do you know of away to cure the carpet browning?
