Carnauba Wax Recommendation

I like to wax my car about once per month. So durability isnt really an issue for me. I would assume a carnauba wax would give me a deeper and warmer shine over a sealant.

Pinnacle Signature Series II is appealing but the price is a bit steep. Meguiar's M26 is cheap and can get OTC. Mother's Pure Carnauba is cheap and easy to get as well. HD Poxy is also a thought cause i can apply it with my machine.

What are your thoughts? Really looking for a beauty wax here.

I have a 2004 Black Honda Accord. The paint is pearlescent with dark blue in it when the light hits.

Spend your time polishing to perfection and won't matter if you use Zymol, Swissvax or Turtle Wax.

Random, the P21S carnauba product is excellent considering the price point. If you want to splurge and seek the dripping wet look, consider Chem Guy's 50/50 product. (There are quite a few outstanding products in this class.)

The paint has been pretty well corrected and polished within the last month. I finished using M205 with a LC white polish pad. I may consider using the M205 with a LC black finish pad considering the black paint is so soft, would that be wortwhile?

The P21S Concours is a nice, at $5.48/oz. Is that the one you speak of?

Any love for the cheaper M26? Ive used it a few times and its so easy to apply and remove. Is P21S Concours really worth 5x the price?

Is Meg's #26 really a "pure" carnauba product? I position it as one of the many hybrid waxes that have a tiny carnauba component. The two waxes I've mentioned are "pure" carnauba products.

So you think the P21S will give the "best-bang-for-buck" kinda deal?

OP - I'm just going to put this out there for you. If you are a carnauba guy, buy a small bottle of HD POLISH and be ready to be impressed. Top it with your choice of carnauba, P21s is very good so is "Magic Wax" - google it. Much better value, better looking and longer lasting

That was actually my plan, im about out of my Megs Ultimate Compound and M205, so im gonna pick up the HD Cut & HD Polish. Planning on picking up the HD Poxy for my customers, and then use my top shelf carnauba on my own car.

I would get a finer polish (SF4500) for your black paint as a final polish.

Randomhero- I agree with Legacy99 and/or Thomas Dekany...use a different/better Finishing Polish after the M205. Made a huge diff on the Granite Metallic paint my GMC had, which sounds kinda similar to what you're working with (and that even had harder clear than yours).

FWIW, I don't like P21s all that much, very "bright and reflective" IMO. M26 usually does the "darkening/richening" thing, might not be the look you're after.

I myself would probably just do a good Finishing Polish and use Poxy or even just a Collinite like 476S, but you might oughta consider Pinnacle Söuveran, which some people really like on all sorts of colors. IMO it's one of those waxes that most people simply oughta try, if the cost isn't an issue (and if it *is* then I'd just be buying Collinite).

Alright, im about to order HD Cut, Polish, & Poxy since im out of my megs stuff. Would HD Polish finish better with a LC black pad (eliminating the need for a finer polish), or would i still need a lighter polish like WolfGang Finshing Glaze?

Im also about to order some Wheel Brightner and flat pads from AutoGeek, so ill get a sample of the Liquid Souveran.

Randomhero- Sorry, I dunno which pad(s) you'll need with the Polish. But I'm confident that with the right pad it's the only Finishing Polish you oughta need.

Be careful with that Wheel Brightener ;)

Oh, and I'd get the Söuveran *paste* instead of the liquid. IIRC people have found the liquid disappointing (never used it myself, love the paste but it just doesn't last long enough for me).

I know the Wheel Brightner is quite strong if not diluted properly, ill keep that in mind.

Thanks for all your advice!

You do not need anything after HD POLISH

It's downright *toxic* too. I'm no shrinking violet when it comes to using things that need to be handled with care, but that's one product that gives me the willies :nervous:

Yeah it's fine to use just make sure you have the appropriate gear.

Hydrofluoric acid is the active ingredient (in the form of ammonium bifluoride) and that stuff can and will eat through skin.

When I use it, I wear a surgical mask, gloves, long sleeve shirt, pants, and shoes.

You don't want that touching you or inhaling it.
