Carnauba safe on Wood furniture?PICS

Carbon Blue

I just refinished a wood stand for my salt water tank which I stained dark cherry red. I first sanded the wood with 120 and then followed it up by 220grit sand paper on a sander. I used a one step urethane gloss stain and allowed the first coat to dry for about 18-24 hours. I then scuffed up the stain using 000 grade wool and added the second coat which I let dry for 24 hours. I was wondering would adding a carnauba such as S100 or IW845 be of any benefit in adding protection and gloss? I know I could use something from home depot but im trying to think multi purpose here

Nice work on that stand. Isn't the urethane stain all the protection you need? I guess a coat of nuba would not hurt and give you a little more protection from the salt. Is that stand for a 55gal?

Thanks!! Its actually for a 50 gallon that Im starting :). Im just trying to find a Fluval now thats within budget and a 36inch T5 fixture setup and I should be golden. :)

Definitely apply a coat of polyurethane coating and let it fully dry/cure.

Carnauba wax is fine on woods. SC Johnson still sells a huge yellow tub of furniture/floor carnauba wax that you can get at janitorial supply stores. I imagine car carnauba would be fine.

The main thing is to not apply wax until the polyurethane has fully cured and outgassed.

Supposedly the stain I used is a 1 stepper with polyurethane mixed in already. Ill wait a month or so before I add the carnauba. Thanks
