Careful what you wish for...

Every few years I decide to "reinvest" in my hobbies...and this year I decided to upgrade my detailing gear. New Flex, pads, 105/205, etc...even scored an OLD orange Metro Vac N Blo my uncle was gonna throw out :2thumbs:. Anyway, with all the new gear chilling in the garage, Im anxious to try it, but a little scared to just hit the bimmers paint with all brand new, untested stuff. So I thought to myself, "if only I had some test panels...something that would really test the correction power of my new gear".

For about the last week or so, I had loaned my truck to my in-laws so they could do some mulching around their house. On my way out this morning, I realize they had dropped the truck off during the evening (he works nights), and you can imagine my horror when I seen the attached images.

I need to seek no further than my own driveway for my test panels...who knows how long those dropping have been on the paint. I have finals coming up in a couple of weeks, but after that, I'll post some before/after photos. In the mean time, I need to find a way of not killing my father-in-law. :grrr

Just think of the experience you will have when you are done. Thank you father in law for the mess and don't lend him your truck again.

That's hilarious he left your truck like that. It's something you'd expect out of a teenage kid who doesn't know how to take care of ****. You'd think he'd have at least driven through one of those coin-op places and pressure washed it down.

Even if you don't know a damned thing about detailing, should know better than just to trash somebody's stuff then leave it in their driveway when they're not looking...

it's not worth getting upset over, it does'nt solve the problem, just don't lend your truck to them ever again.

I'm wondering if his vehicles look the same or is this just the way he treats borrowed stuff?? (My Dad always had a set of cheap "loaner" tools for the neighbors that always were stopping by to borrow his - this was only after one sawing thru his miter box and seeing another leave the borrowed tools out in the rain.)

Better get the number for U-haul for the next time he wants to borrow your truck - :nomore: - and I think he owes you a few $$$ for the cleanup (did he leave any gas in it?)

In fairness, I may be partially to blame. In the past, he has borrowed it and offered to "wash" it for me, which in the best case would be the local car wash, and worst case would be dawn dish soap and a brillo pad. Knowing his track record, Ive told him to not to bother, Id rather not take the chance of him messing up the paint. While it turned my stomach, its probably just a bunch of bird droppings to him...nothing the rain wont take care of. Ignorance is bliss. I just posted because I knew you folks would appreciate "that feeling" when you first see it...and hopefully the one that comes from saving it!

That's the reason I don't loan out my vehicles, the frustration is just not worth it. One of my favorite memories was when some co-worker asked if he could borrow my Tundra to move and was shocked when I said no.
