Car wash soap..how much to use?

I'm just curious as to how people mix their car wash soap in water. Do most people, as I have, just pour some in a bucket and add water?

Last weekend I was trying to review the NXT soap. I purposely used a half bucket..2.5 gallons of water and added 2.5oz's of soap. I was surprised to find that it worked so well. I then tried Pinnacle soap and did the same mix..as per their directions. It made me wonder if my issues with soaps has been my random mixing technique or issues with the soap itself?

How many of us use the just pour some in technique?

It helps form a better reference when trying to compare Soap A against Soap B. I typically use 1 TBS. of soap per 2 gallons of water...at least that's my starting reference point when trying a new soap. In many instances this will be weaker than what's called for on the product label.

What did you think of the Pinnacle?

I thought it was OK..however...I think I'll try it again this Saturday...just to be sure. I must admit..I really liked the NXT...I thought it was very good. Just picked up some SFP last night from the guy at Eastern with the attitude. I watched as he turned a newbie away who wanted to buy a PC and "something to do my car". I caught him in the parking lot and told him about this place. I'm gonna be busy Saturday...whooooeee!!:bounce

I use about one capful of Meguiar's Soft Wash Gel per half pail of water, while the directions call for using four capfuls.

Last night a friend of the family stopped by and hijacked many supplies from me. :) He has a direct drive machine that runs at 1500 and 3000 rpm. He has been "polishing" his dk blue Suburban with that, a lambswool pad and Turtle Wax "polishing compound". It's Swirl City and he admits it....says he doesn't know how it keeps happening. (It's not too severe)

I sent him home with my Makita, PC, a bunch of pads and chemicals. I think he is gonna be blown away by how good his truck can look with the proper level of care and force. He is gonna be a converted man when he's done! :xyxthumbs He knows how to handle the equipment, it's just that his procedures needed a little tweaking. :p
