Car wash Shampoo

I know there have been talks on this in the past, but I am more confused now. With the winter finishing up soon(please), I have been reassessing my goodies. I would appreciate any input of what are your favorite car shampoos and why. Thanks:o .

I've used over the counter brands in the past but right now I'm using Zaino, it seems to work great. If there's something better I'll try it, but for now it's Zaino.

ya know, the best I have used, although doesn't contain carnauba, is Hollywoods. They are some car care product company in Washington, if I am not mistaken. Suds like friggin' crazy and it sheets right off when rinsing.

My favorite wheel cleaner is Eagle One's A2Z. Unfortunately, it isn't sold in a gallon bottle. I am looking for a wheel cleaner that comes in the one gallon size. Any recommendations?

My favorite car wash shampoo to date is the P21S Bodywork Conditioning Shampoo. Lots of suds, very slippery and does a terrific job. It does not seem to strip wax like other shampoos I've tried. A side bonus is that it smells like apples. At about $8 per bottle, I think it is a terrific value.

(I'm currently experimenting with the Pinnacle car wash shampoo. While it is very nice, I don't feel that it is worth the almost 2x price premium over the P21s product.)

I have used and like:

- One Grand Wash 'n Wax (has a bit of wax to complement a carnuba finish)

- Zaino Wash

- Meguiars Hi-Tech #00

- Meguiars Gold Glass

- Griots

I'll be using the One Grand Wash 'n Wax for the final wash on top of my waxed vehicles when the weather gets nicer and Meguiars Gold Class for the quick washes during the winter to keep the salt and crud off the road.

I also want to try some Meguiars #62 at some point.

By far my favorite too. Cleans very well and doesn't strip. Wish it came in a bigger bottle.

I am surprised no one has responded with Meg Gold Class yet. I use that exclusively right now. Got two gallons of it at Target last month for 7.49 each....should last me a year or two. Good suds, water sheets off, looks good. My GF used it on her forerunner and she noted how much better it made it look compared to traditional liquid detergent.

I do like the looks and description of P21S that everyone has given and would certainly like to try it, but I've got enough soap for now. Plus, if I am not mistaken, it is a bit more expensive than GC, if anyone is worried about the $$$$.:xyxthumbs

I've got some of the P21S shampoo too but I haven't tried it yet. I'm waiting for warmer, nicer weather. This time of year it is almost a waste to wash the car because it only lasts for about an hour but I feel bette knowing I washed it :)

I think this is great info!! I have used the pinnacle shampoo. It is great, but agree with ema that it is too expensive (I feel there are shampoos that are as effective for a better value). I currently have in supply the meguiars GC and had the hi tech #00. IMO they they are very close (better price with the GC gallon). It seems that ps21 seems to be the one to think about so far on this thread.

I have Gold Class and Eagle One Wet but even Turtle Wax works just fine for me. The only difference I see is price and concentration.:nixweiss

Personally, in terms of cleaning ability, I don't think there'd be a whole lot of difference between any of car washes sold out there. If people want something cheap, I just point them to the cheap stuff like Turtle Wax. None of the shampoos sold now should strip wax, and are at least reasonably slippery, which are the 2 main, practical requirements IMO. Some of the "wash & wax" shampoos require more to be mixed per gallon however.

That said, my 2 favourite shampoos are Zymol Auto Wash (the "cheap" blue one), and Mothers Trigger Wash. Why these two? Because a) They are nice and slippery b) Trigger Wash is faster to use, and c) They both smell terrific!! :xyxthumbs The Zymol smells like tropical bananas and the Mothers smells like tangy apples, making washing so much more pleasant. Awesome. :)

Some people like the Mothers car wash too, but I haven't tried it myself. (Reminds self to bum a sample off a friend...)

I am, however, tempted to try a "wash & wax" shampoo for the carnauba, and Z7 for washing any polymer sealants though. Both reputedly do make an improvement.

Autopia Poll says Gold Class is number 1.

I think I have 10 different washes on the shelf. Too funny!

My favorite is a mixture of One Grand Wash & Wax

and One Grand Suds Alot. I have one gallon jugs with

pumps like you see for ketchup and mustard. From OG.

2 squirts of W&W and 1 or 2 squirts of suds alot.

This gives me the right level of lubricity and suds for me.

My favs are Megs GC and P21S Bodywork Shampoo.

I see people talking about the new EO Wheel Cleaner (A to Z). I purchased the old EO (black bottle) when Sears was getting rid of all of their EO stuff. I know that A to Z is non-acidic. Does anyone know if the old EO is acidic and should I just chuck it out???

The old A2Z in the black bottle is acidic. I don't think you have to toss it, it might become useful one day. :nixweiss

currently using the blue zymol wash.....very impressed by the cleaning...lots of suds, smells good and go's on and off a treat on top of blitz.

My favorite is P21S Bodywash Shampoo.

I have also used Meguiars Gold Class Shampoo and the Zymol (blue bottle) shampoo found at places like Auto Zone.

I like the smell of the Zymol the best, smells like you should drink it rather than wash a car with it, lol ! Has tons of suds. This is what I primarily use if I am washing someone else's car, because it's cheaper than the P21S and still does a terrific job.
