Car Cover

Hi All,

I am looking for some help in purchasing a car cover since there is a 15% off coupon available right now.

The vehicle sits outside 24Hrs a day all year around in NY.
so we are looking at freezing temps, snow, rain, sun heat, bird poop and everything else you can imagine.
It gets driven on weekends only, and occasionally we use it on long trips.
The cover needs to be easy to remove and install back onto the vehicle by one person, and most importantly it should be gentle on the paint, not to scratch.
Maybe a cover with 100% cotton interior.

OR

Does it pay to buy a cover thats going to do more harm than good, if anyone has a cover and has an opinion, i would like to hear it please.

The vehicle is a black Silverado and i just finished paint correcting this baby, took me almost 40 hrs.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanx In Advance
Claude

Well Claude... since I gave you some advice on wax residue removal (which didn't work!), maybe you shouldn't listen to me anymore!!!!:scared::clap:

Here's the problem with outdoor covers. If it is "water-resistant", the water WILL get through, because it's not "water-proof". If it's water-proof, any moisture from overnight condensation, can't get out!

So, even though the truck is staying fairly clean underneath, your still battling the enemy.... WATER.

I tried the car cover routine on one of my outside cars years ago and it just seemed like a losing battle. Scratches were never an issue, but it seemed like the cover was higher maintenance than the vehicle!!!!!!:out::out::out:

Two-cover system:

During high winds the use of this system will avoid paint surface marring from the cover being buffered by high force winds (Hurricanes)

1. Dustop TM- 4 layer cover with maximum dust protection and its soft inner layer protects paint.

2. WeathersheildTM HD- primarily for intense sun environments and long-term storage provides optimum protection from a multi-layer breathable (heavyweight) fabric.

Hi Bill,

Higher maintenance, you mean cleaning it?

Claude

Cleaning it, taking it off and back on, wanting to use the car when the cover was wet, taking it off wet, finding a place to hang the cover to let it dry while I drive the car, on and on......

I leave my GTP outside all the time now without a cover. For me, it just seems easier to QD the car every day than to mess with the cover.

BUT......most people aren't like me. I think most people would prefer the cover over the daily car cleaning.
