Car Body Curves

I was wondering what you guys do when your car panel is uneven due to the body design. I have a 06 volvo s40 and on the side door panels right under the window, the body jets out. I read that you are not suppose to put pressure on the side of the pads because it can tear, so I am wondering what you do in this situation when the panel isn't all even?

Below is a link to some pictures of my car so you will get a better understanding.

you just have to be careful...and a little pressure isn't going to hurt anything when used sparingly...it's when you develop bad habits of too much pressure and wrong angles that ultimately cause equipment failures.

also, for smaller areas, use a smaller backing plate and pad set (3.5" bp w/ 4" pads).

If a protruding panel is gonna get *so* much more abrasion that you're concerned about thinning its paint (not *that* much of an issue with the PC and a newish car IMO) then just tape off the protruding area while doing the adjacent areas. Then peel off the tape and do that area last.
