Canuck Clay source

Has anyone come up with a good Canadian source for clay bars besides the Mothers one? I could buy another one of those but all we have is the kit ( 80 G clay and detailer ) and more QD I don't need. I'd like a little bigger bar too.

I can get the Meguiar's Body Shop Pro Overspray Clay here from a local distributor for an awesome price (comes w/ two 100g bars in a jar), so I was probably going to try that next.

I'm also considering the 3M/Claymagic blue bars. They're available here at several stores, but I hadn't priced them out yet.

Also, if you like the Mother's Clay then CT usually has Mother's sales 15% off (or more) several times a year.

I didn't mind the Mothers but I wasn't about to pay for more QD and the bars are small 80 g

How is the Megs pro .. is it agressive seeing its for overspray removal?

If you find the Clay Magic let me know what store.

From speaking to a few different americans who have used both the 3m and clay magic it seems that they are the same bar. Not sure how that arrangement works. If clay magic and 3m buy from an independant 3rd party or if clay magic buys from 3m and repakages, etc. But like I said it seems they are the same bar. If that's the case, get the 3m bar from napa and try it out.

Bill.

Send an email off to the Automagic people. I did a couple of years ago and got a contact with a local detailing place that sells AutoMagic products. Got a 200 g blue bar for $38. In the end, with all the hassle of going to a specific place to get a bar instead of just popping over to Canadian or Lordco for a Mother's kit when they go on sale, it wasn't worth it to me, so now, I just stock up on the Mother's kit when it goes on sale, and it works out to be the same price. And I get to give away the cleaner wax to friends who don't want fancy waxes. I use Showtime for cleaning up birdpoop and other general cleanup work, so it's a better deal for me.

BillNorth,

I have used the 3M and blue Clay Magic bar and they are exactly the same. Take them out of the package and put them beside each other and I can't tell one from the other.

Steve,

That's pretty much what every person who has used both bars has said to me.

Where did you get your clay magic bar from?? Did you find a local source in ON or did you just order it online? How much did it cost? The 3M bar cost me $40 at UAP/NAPA.

Thanks.

BillNorth,

I purchased the Clay Magic bar at Auto Bahn, 4646 Dufferin ST, Toronto, Ontario,416-739-0001. It costs $35 CDN for a 200grm bar. They also sell the 100grm kits for $20.

I purchase the 3M bar any place that sells 3m stuff. If it is not in stock they will order it. The last time I purchased one was from C MAX in Hamilton. It cost me $34.

I mainly use the Mothers bar now, I like it better.

Steve,

Thanks for the info. I think I'm going to stick with the mothers bar as well. I just bought it this summer for the first time in two years. The bar from this summer was much different from what I remember 2 years ago. It seems that mothers has changed the formula and have put a bigger bar in the package. Two plusses for me.

I can get the Meg's Pro overspray clay from a local distributor for $26.80 + GST (2 x 100g bars). I might just try that for my next clay.

Inzane,

The Megs overspray clay is way too sticky for normal claying IMO. I would use it when I need something stronger than my regular clay but not on a regular basis.
