Can't Wait To See My Dad's face!

My dad bought himself a little christmas gift on christmas eve, the same day I came home to visit my family (off for college winter vacation). I was suprised to see there was a Porsche in our parking spots! My Dad finally got his dream car. Anyways, he talked to me about how it was swirled and stuff that night when we were talking about it and driving it around. The next day, Christmas day, he took off to London. He will be coming back tonight. For the past week I have been working on his car (~9 hours total). I did most of the work yesterday and finished it. Well, my first black car just turned out great. I can't wait to see his face when he sees the wetness in the paint :) .

I wasn't even planning on taking afters, so there are no befores, sorry (but trust me it was SWIRLED). Anyways here's the pictures (in no particular order):

That is absolutely beautiful work Aaron, the Porsche is just gleaming.

Have you thought of the timeline? You move out, dad buys a Porsche. You come home for Christmas break, dad takes off to London.

So where's pops heading for spring break?

All kidding aside, it's gorgeous and he'll be thrilled.

What a great gift! Well done.

What did you use to correct the swirls and protect that fine piece of craftsmanship?

Hahaha, I thought about that... I come home and my dad skips town?

And, whoops I forgot my process!

- Gold Class Car Wash (seriously, it's good, cheap and easily found everywhere)

- Meguiars' mild clay bar

- SSR 2.5 via PC @ 6 (orange pad)

- SSR 1 via PC @ 5 (white pad)

- Poorboy's Pro Polish (hood and trunk only, seemed useless so I stopped)

- 1x NXT liquid wax

- 2x p21s carnauba

Great job! Your dad will be quite surprised :) Does he know your expertise in detailing?

What a nice thing to do for your dad......:xyxthumbs

Take a bow, you did fine work. Post a picture of your dad in the car when he gets back if you can. I want to see that permagrin......:D

Well, since I have done this job, my dad has washed his car on his own twice now. I have offered to buy him a starter kit of premium MF towels and waffle weave drying towels but he refuses. He still washes his car the old way, with one terry cloth towel and all the garage towels to dry it. :( Sometimes I wonder if I would be a happier person never learning about auto detailing. I have detailed numerous friend's and family's vehicles and they are all swirled within a month of me doing so. Example: my friends '06 M3 I detailed twice because I just feel so bad for it, and it might be the worst paint condition I have ever seen nowadays. Dang :(

that's too bad. Maybe once your dad sees how bad it looks again after a while he will realize your helpful methods really work.

Looks great, good job there. My dad doesn't even notice if his car is clean and swirl free or dirty. But I keep it nice anyway. He thinks of it just as a way to get from point A to point B. Very frustrating sometimes.
