can't tell any difference in looks with AIO + meg's #26

I just clayed and SMRed my whole car... then AIO + 2 layers of Meg's #26 on 1/2 of the car (the long way) while the other side is stripped nekkid. For the life of me, I can't tell any difference between the halves.

I supposed the paint is in overall fairly decent condition... 2 years old, no swirlies (especially after SMR)... the waxed side is pretty reflective (I've seen shinier on some of the pics you all have posted), but the other half is more less just as shiny... In fact, I can't even see a line based on clarity / color / reflectivity between the two halves...

Anyone have an explanation? I have no idea what I might be doing wrong... or maybe I'm just expecting too much? The surface definitely feels softer because of the AIO and wax, but besides that... no difference in the look . Thx!

did you literally just finish? You should be able to see a difference after 24 hrs (overnight) under some garage lighting or even under sunlight.

3M SMR is super fine polish with lots of fillers similar to a glaze, so it's gonna look nice but not for long. The ½ with AIO and #26 will last a while whereas the SMR side will lose luster pronto.

hey 3 nocals in a row :)

yeah... my comparison was immediately after i finished the waxed half... and it was in both direct sunlight and in a garage.

now it's been about 20 hours since I did it last night, and I went out for another look under the sun... I can't do the comparison anymore because I finished off the whole car last night, but as for the reflectivity... something interesting...

the car looks a tiny bit hazy when looking at reflections on a surface that's under direct sunlight, but when i look at the hood from top down in the area under my shadow, the reflectivity is excellent... i could even see my arm hairs with clarity ... and I'm southern Chinese so that arm hair is pretty light / fine. haha.

Im buying klasse SG. I need a topper for AIO Whats the cheapest I can get SG. The cheapest I seen it is 15.00 at TOTL.

I got SG as a combo with AIO... together for the both of them was $35 i think... came with some pads... so if you can get SG for $15... just get it.

I didn't SG this time cause last time I did this (6 months ago), I did 3x SG (with 24 hrs cure time between each layer), and I coudln't tell a damn difference. It might help, but now I don't think it's worth the effort... cause it's hard to get off if you don't get it absolutely thin. I'm not saying that it's not a good product... it just didn't seem to help me any...

In my expierence, it's hard to tell much of a difference if you do one panel. You need to do the entire car, then notice the reflection of the ground on the lower panel, the gloss of the curves on the fenders, the shininess of the hood, the look of the flat vertical panel in direct sunlight, etc. With a wax comparison, that's really the only way to do it. I can, however, tell a major difference on same-panel comparison when I am polishing with my PC or DeWalt rotary.
