Can you Pro's help an AM out?

Well, after spending countless hours reading through thread after thread,

I just have an even bigger headache over beginning a detailing business on the side.

I currently own 2 SVT vehicles and I LOVE when they are clean, I now know what clean really is after this site.

So my question to all of you guys out there that detail for a job/side job,

Please give me a detailed list with what to start. Looking to spend $400-500

I know I need a PC or UDM, so give me your opinions on those. Also, which pads, polishes, waxes, clays, sprays,...... the list goes on.

Also, I do not know all the abbreviations so could you all please be very detailed in the exact name and maker of a product. Links would help too

Thank you all, I love this site

mA_c,

The Pro forum is not for amateurs to ask questions; rather, it's for pros to discuss the business aspect of detailing. I've moved your post here to the Detailing Product Discussion forum.

Alright, I'll give you my $.02 on the basic products to buy. I am a Meg's user so all the products listed here are Meg's. If you prefer something else then do some searching and you will find similar products from other lines. I like Meg's because I can buy it by the gallon and *I* am happy with the results.

1. PC and backing plate (not Meg's, I prefer the one that Patrick from Excel Detail sells)

2. 4 Meg's 8006 polishing pads

3. 1 Meg's 9006 finishing pad

4. One gallon Meguiars #80 Speed Glaze

5. One gallon Meguiars #83 DACP

6. 32oz #21 Synthetic Sealant

7. One gallon Meg's Wheel Brightner

8. One gallon Meg's APC+

9. One gallon Meg's Hyper Dressing

10. Meg's Quick Interior Detailer

11. Leather protection of choice.

12. A LOT of good microfibers. You can get these for a fair price from ADS.

13. A LOT of terry towels. I buy them bulk from Costco and don't worry too much about quality as I don't use them on paint ever. Just wash a few times before first use to make sure they are lint free.

14. A ShopVac. The smaller and more powerful the better. I believe mine is a 4 gallon 5 HP version from Sears....I think:)

15. Almost forgot Clay! You can get it bulk on ebay and other places for around $10-$15 per 200g bar if you look. Add in some Meg's Last touch QD and you are set!

That should be enough to handle most jobs interior or exterior. You are not going to do much major correction without a rotary in any decent amount of time but you can get a car to what 90% of what people are looking for with the above products on a PC. You should also come in at or below your $400-$500 budget.
