Hey Guys,

Long time Autopian, mostly a reader not a poster but I have a problem! Last year I bought the roadster and was doing the Autopian thing, which is spending hour upon hour polishing and getting rid of 8 years of swirls caused by coin washes. I had a piece of paint fly right off on a filler piece by where the roof mechanism closes. I believe there was a run that caused the weakness and allowed the whole thing to flake off. I'm wondering if it's possible to fill this with touch up and wet sand, polish back out to a satisfactory result? I understand it won't be perfect but I don't really have the funds to have the whole thing sprayed right now.

Here's how the car looks on the whole:

Thoughts? Any links to tutorials would be great, I've done lots of detailing but never touch ups.

To repair that properly, you will need to have the panel repainted. You can hit it with touch up paint to protect the metal and hide it somewhat, but that needs a body shop unfortunately.

BTW car looks great!

Thanks for all feedback. Currently filling with touch up paint (lacquer), will sand and possibly add more paint, then polish out and post pics of result. Anything will be better than what's shown above.

Cheers
