Can rotary pads be used on d/a?

Hey everyone got a question, I have a Makita 9227 rotary and was working on my 06 black jetta but I just cant seem to finish off perfect with it, i've tried finishing with a black pad and m82 and a white pad and m82 but both times the finish looks flawless under the halogens, but in the sun....you can see very, very, very faint swirls/holograms. I'm thinking of getting a dual action to finish off. So my question is, can I use the same pads on the dual action polisher or do I have to get new pads? Im planning on getting the new porter cable xp machine that came out.

Like AeroCleanse said, "yes"

Just use the same product with each pad, don't cross-contaminate products onto the same pad, that is if you're using M205 with a pad on your rotary buffer, when you move the pad over to your DA polisher, continue using M205 with the pad, don't start using a different chemical, unless the pad is washable and you wash it first, even then some people will mark their pads and dedicate them to a specific chemical, not a specific tool.

If you like working with Meguiar's products, pick up a bottle of M205 Ultra Finishing Polish and give it a try both with the rotary and the DA Polisher. Different type of abrasive technology than the M82

Works well.

I have had good luck with pads 5.5-6.5" with a PC. I always get trails with 82 no matter what pad I finish with.

I have had good luck with 3m UF and a LC blue with a rotary.

A pc is a great tool to have in the shop. I use mine on plastics/goofy areas/and to apply non-abrasive stuff. My Honda CR-v's hood does not take well to polishing so I *have* to finish it by PC.

Yea I agree, considering the hard VAG paint you are working on it might just be the product. I was never a fan myself of #82 despite still loving Meguiars products for the tough days when everything acts up. Give something different a shot and see if you can eliminate those holograms
