Can I just pick a pc pad to start with

I need a new job
I have been driving myself nuts trying to decide on a pc pad to purchase. My birthday is at the end of this month and I'm putting together a wish list for my supplies. So, should I just pick a brand of pads and give them a try. I know everyone here has a different opinion about every brand out there. I've narrowed it down to lake country, advanced, and the edge system. I think I'm gonna try the edge pads first. Sound good??? :dunno

Sure, you can pick a manufacturer. I would suggest to see what gets a lot of good reviews on here, especially good marks by beginners. Personally, the Edge pads I bought at the PAC sale a month or so ago are really growing on me. They're not the quick connect (I prefer hook and loop, so I can utilize the rest of my pad collection).

Yes, it sounds good to me. I have a bunch of Velcro pads already so I'm not likely to be changing, but.....
If you are buying your first pads, the Edge quick disconnect system would be one I would definitely try.

Thanks alot guys, so it's settled, The Edge 2000 quick disconnect it is. *Phew* glad that's over. I've got a 2003 steel gray Mazda 6. Hopefully buy the end of this month it will get the full Poorboys Makeover. I will definitely post some pics when done.

WOW, $20.00 a pad...man this stuff is expensive, i'a rather go with a velcroe one, but lake country didnt have any on their site that was 6". What all would you need, for cleaning, polishing, and waxing?

The edge quick disconnect pads are essentially 2 pads for the price of one since you can utilize both sides of the pad. good stuff.

Changed my mind, again, getting the lc pad kit from autogeek. You know, you guys have too many good opinions here, enough to make somebody's head spin :wha

Which pad kit did you finally order ? If you break down each kit and the cost of it. Which is the better deal . Lets do the math

Edge 2000
Kit Includes:
1 Yellow Medium Cut Pad (E-621Z)
1 Green Light Cut Pad (E-622Z)
1 Blue Finishing Pad (E-623Z)
1 White Finishing Pad (E-623Z)
2 Cobra Detailing Cloth
1 The Edge 2000 Quick-Connect Adaptor

4 pads but your really getting 8 pads and the adpator
$85.00 for the Edge 2000 kit

LC kit
ITEMS IN THIS KIT:
1 Orange Pad- LC-76-2165VC
2 White Pad- LC-76-6165
1 Black Pad- LC-76-7165
2 Microfiber Towels- MDT-300
1 Snappy Clean Packet

4 pads and you need a backing plate ( $17 )

$49.95 + 16.95 for a backing plate total $66.90 to get the same amount of pads as the Edge kit you need to buy 2 LC kits $49.95 = $116.85

LC Deluxe Kit

ITEMS IN THIS KIT:
# 1 Orange Pad- LC-76-2165VC
# 1 Yellow Pad- LC-46-572VC
# 1 White Pad- LC-76-6165
# 1 Black Pad- LC-76-7165
# 1 Velcro Backing Plate 5"
# 1 Lambswool Pad- LC-77-216
# Pair Microfiber Bonnets- MB-1010
# Pair Terry Bonnets- TB-2020
# 2 Microfiber Towels- MDT-300

4 foam pads & 5 bonnets
$79.95

The LC deluxe kit is the better deal if your going to use the bonnets. The Edge 2000 kit is the better deal if your talking foam pads .

That concludes our lesson today . Happy detailing :)

I purchased the LC advanced 7.5 pkg. and couldn't be more pleased. This was my first time using a PC. I aggresively experimented in style, pressure and etc. on my new 2 mo. old Chrysler 300 and immediately could detect I was safe and the pads provided extra safety with the edge protection. I think it would be difficult in purchasing just one, and if that the case let it be white. I think as a minimum you would want Orange, 2XWhite and Red. Now I am a fledgeling in the detailing (hobby), and thus what worked for me. I would yield to the recommendation of the pros who I am sure will provide you many perspectives and advise to your question. :dcrules
