Can I Clay??

My car was in a accident a few weeks ago and it just got out of the body shop. They had to paint/blend the entire left side of the car. They bake the paint but they told me not to wax it for at least 6 weeks. The car was detailed just a few days before the accident so the side that they painted is shinny but seems a little dull compaired to the other body pannels. I want to clay the entire car ( get rid of all of the overspray ) and and Apply some Wolfgang instant detail spritz to the left side of the car but I do not want to mess up the paint. Any Suggestions?

Thanks,
Jeff

I wouldn't touch the newly painted areas for at least the amount of time that they told you to wait. If they did a crappy job in painting and it starts to peel up while you are claying, then you don't want them blaming it on you. They'll just say "You didn't wait long enough like we told you" or something like that. Give it every single day that they told you it would take before touching it. Its the only way to cover your butt. I've actually handled a couple cases at work where people have tried to sue paint shops for doing a bad job. One of them actually lost because they were waxing it the day after they got the car back and the shop clearly has it on their invoice to wait for 45 days before touching it. You gotta follow their directions if you really want to be safe.
