Can anybody help me with some advice on fading

I have a potential client that wants me to detail his white 95 explorer. He wants to take the pin striping off and see if I can buff the pin stripe area so it matches the rest of the vehicle. Given I have not seen the car so I don't know what shape the paint is in. I just wanted to know if it is possible to do what they want? I have never done anyting like this (most of my work is on 99 and newer vehicles) and don't want to tell the customer I can do it when it might not be possible. Thanks for the advice.

it should be okay

use a heat gun to warm the stripe and peel off a section at a time, you will need some kind of solvent to remove any glue that remains, a bodyshop panel wipe will do it

This is assuming that the pinstripe is a sticker, and not painted on. If it is a sticker, the paint underneath will likely be a slightly different color, but a little polishing should match everything up.

It won't match if the rest is faded, which I assume it is. The UV from the sun will fade paint slightly. When you remove striping or stickers that have been on a while, the paint under the sticker or stripes will not be faded. Usually in time it will fade to match but it could take a while. However, you could take it off and it not be bad at all.

You shouldn't have too much trouble taking off the pinstripe unless it's painted on. As for removing all traces of it, there's the possibility that you'll be able to see where the tape was applied. You should be able to take care of at least most of it, but even after polishing I wouldn't be making any promises that it won't be detectable, even on white.

Do the usual wash, clay, swirl remove, glaze, wax...

That means you have to use a carnauba or a sealant that doesn't need a squeaky clean surface (like a meg's sealant).
