Can A Clay Bar Remove Water Spots?

I have a 99 Ford F-250 Super Duty and I just got done putting some Lite Cut on with my PC. I still have water spots on my hood that I can't get out with my PC. I was just wondering if a clay bar would remove those "ugly" water spots?

You might want to try vinegar, but I don't know if that will do anything since you've already tried polishing them out. If polishing with fine cut doesn't remove them I doubt clay will since clay's job is to remove dirt and stuff stuck on the surface... :nixweiss

Aren't water spots just mineral deposits on the surface of the paint that are left over after water evaporates?



I can always clean them up with QD.



Yours must be some pretty extreme water spots.

They're probably etched in water spots, caused by concentrating pollutants in the sitting water. A new member named fiona made 2 threads with a similar problem:
