One of my Clients gave this to me as a Thank You tip. It has Never been used or Charged at all? He showed me the receipt that came with it from back in 2002. it was a christmas gift and he never had a need for it.

It did come with a really cool Meguiars bag, 2 batteries, instruction manual and the Cordless DA, but no Charger?

So my question is

1. Was it anything cool back in the day? and did it work good?

2. Can I find a charger anywhere? and if I did, would it be worth buying?

3. Would any other brand of chargers work, or are these batteries toast from being almost 10 years old? even though they've never been charged?

4. Are these batterys Lithium Ion?

here are some photographs

Notice they no longer market them, too little power, too small of a battery life.

Used one in the early 2000's, and was lucky to get the wax on one car before out of battery.

Grumpy

even without ever seeing one before i can tell you it will be a piece of junk now worth sticking a pad onto. nowhere near li ion batteries. probably not even nimh its most likely nicad which is the lowest like a t12>t8>t5 fluorescent bulb efficiency to size chart.

if the motor is nearly as strong as an original g100 or pc7424 it will run out of juice so quick. also once it powers below 50% juice the output will be really weak. newer batteries have a pretty stable output power band.

btw if u want to locate a charger it looks like it says 4.6 or 4.8v. just look up the manual and see the maximum amps it can take charging, and find a universal plug that fits. you just gotta match the specs and if anything underpower it instead of overcharging and frying it.

with that being said, it looks to be a super cool gift and a great um..collectible i guess. i wouldnt call it antique or anything yet lol. just hold onto it in mint condition and some collector might buy it off you down the road. meguiars got quite a history going and i bet 20+ years from now they will still be around and will have some enthusiast collectors that would love to have a mint buffer to add to their collection.

I remember those... everything I've ever read about them is that they were pretty much wax spreaders.

Somewhere kicking around here I've got a Meguiar's catalog with that in it.
