Call of order, and do I need to use SSR1&2?

I recently purchased a brand new 2006 New Forumla Red Honda S2000 (had 37 miles on it when I picked it up). Obviously it's been sitting around the lot for a while. I can tell the paint has some grit on it, and not really smooth. Also The dealer put some light swirls on it.

Plan of action:

1. Meguiars NXT wash

2. Mothers Clay bar

3. Wash again

4. Now here's where it gets tricky. A friend let me borrow his PC and Poorboy's SSR1,2,&2.5... He said to use the 1 and 2 but I probably wouldn't need the 2.5. Do I really need to use both the SSR1 AND SSR2 for the best results ?

After the SSR, I'm really not sure what to do next ??... I thought I had a good order of products until I started listening to some other people, and reading and reading on here.

I have used Meguiars products in the past, and have the # 26 Hi Tech Wax, and Gold Class Wax.

I say meguiars since I can run to my local auto store and pick up whatever else I might need for the best results, I plan on doing this over the weekend.

Any suggestions on what to do after the SSR ? (polishes, waxes, ect ?)

Hey there... your set up looks good. Depending on the swirls and what pads you have you may not need the SSR 2 or the 2.5. I would also recommend using a sealant prior to #26, but thats just my personal opinion. Though I'm not familiar with Meguiar's line up, I believe NXT paste wax is their sealant. Double check before you buy it though :)

Assuming that your S2K has a soft clear, you should be fine with SSR2/1. SSR1 alone really won't do too much when it comes to removing swirls but remember to start with your least aggressive combo and move to more aggressive one as appropriate.

After SSR2/1, your paint surface should be LSP ready and that's where your #26 will come in. Have at it and let us know how that works out for ya.

My swirls are very minimal. I found a sealant that I can pick up, here is the description "Machine Glaze outshines all other machine applied polishes, glazes , waxes and sealants. Penetrating nutrients revitalize all paint finishes. Buffing residue wipes off easily. Restores original brilliance and clarity. Safe and effective on fiberglass, plastic and paint."

As far as pads, I think I have them all... Multiple colors(Yellow/hard, green/hard, orange/little softer than first two, blue/soft, white/soft.

While the machine glaze is perfectly fine, it isn't a sealant, its a glaze. Glaze's include (i think) oils and such which work as fillers, and provide a good base for waxes. In fact if I'm not mistaken, you can only use waxes over glazes. I don't know if they are as durable as a sealant though.

If you have a CarQuest store nearby you could pick up the Duragloss Sealant which has been well reviewed here by others. You might also find Klasse Sealant Glaze altho this is tricky to apply thin enough so that it's not a PITA to remove. I don't know the exact name of a Mother's or Meguiar's product to refer you to.

The strange thing this when I search the Meguiars site for "sealant" the machine glaze, and the new car glaze come up.

Thanks for the help everyone

Meguiars #7 showcar glaze can be picked up at just about any parts store. Use sparingly. Go around and cover the whole car. Immediately after applying to the whole car come back with a microfiber and take it off in 2 passes. A lot of people have trouble with #7 but get the majority of it off in the first pass. Then on the second pass slow down your wipes so the remaining oils can absorb into the microfiber.

Once #7 is removed, top it with your wax of choice, no sealants, carbuna(SP?) wax only.
