California Car Dusters

I have used the big one for exterior maintance and the small one for interior maintance, and my car always looks great. Really extends the time between washing and detailing. Has anyone else had any experience w/ CCDs?

I have had mine for a long time and always use it on a lightly dusted vehicles. Works great. I found that it streaks if the car surface is hot. :xyxthumbs

Living in AZ, its a must. I give my car a CD every morning, but as mentioned above, don't use on a hot surface or anything other than a lightly dusted car. Works great to follow with a QD every few days also.

I use my CCD every day on my Grand Prix and Firebird.

If there hasn't been any rain, moisture, splashes, etc. it's the quickest way to freshen up the appearance of your car.

Tip... use the CCD very lightly over the surface of the car. Never "scrub" or apply pressure. The duster's weight will do all the work.

If you park outside and your car is covered with condensation (dew), the CCD won't work, even after the water dries. It's mainly for a fine layer of dust.

I use my OXO duster (same thing, with rubber handle) before every time I QD. I have also seen streaks on my black tinted windows if they've been in direct sun on a warm day.

I love my CCD. I only bought it 2 weeks ago, but since then I've used it every day that it hasnt rained. I couldn't resist it when I saw it in walmart, I'm glad that I couldn't. This thing rocks! I CCD everyday (weather permiting of course) and then every other day I got over the car with crystal mist. Car looks just as good if not better than the day I detailed it.

It's a must have here in SoCal where it's common to go 6 months or more without rain. As noted by several above, it's great for removing the bulk of the dust prior to a QD and really extends periods between washes.

a carnauba spray that I use to refresh my coat of souveran. made by pinnacle. and about the marring, if you go over the paint lightly enough, and make sure to vigorously shake the duster out after each swipe, you dont get any. it's one of those, if your careful you'll be rewarded kind of deals.

Aren't you guys worried at all about marring?
For most cars, using the CCD as intended won't introduce any significant marring. There are some awfully soft paints out there, though, and of course black and other dark colors will show any scratches more easily than, say, my silver metallic. I don't worry about it using it on MY car, but if I had a black car that marred easily, I'd probably change my tune.

Exactly. My car is silver, and has a hard-enough clearcoat to prevent any marring from the CCD. If I had a black car, I would carefully examine it after each pass of the CCD to determine whether it's installing any micromarring.

I bought one and used it today, it works pretty good I must say. It just "smears" the windows a bit with the parafin or whatever it is coated with, but I guess that's just because it's new. It worked wonders on the dust though and I ended up not even washing the car.

You'll always get a little streaking from the excess paraffin wax when you use a new CCD. After a few uses, that won't happen anymore.

Did you place it on newspapers for at least 48 hours before using it, as the instructions state? I never had any problems w/ streaking or anything else.
