Here we have a Cadillac XLR in Xenon Blue. This color is rare in this make/model and I believe they only offered it for 2 years. The owner of this vehicle was looking for this color for about 8 months when one finally came in at a local dealership. He went that day and purchased this. It has 53k on the odometer. The week after the purchase the owner called while I was working on the yellow Z06 I recently posted. I told him he could come by the house so I could take a look at the car to see what needed to be done. He was there within 15 minutes
. After looking at the Vette ( I had just finished) he immediately set up the following week for a paint correction detail. I had the car from Monday night at 6pm until Wed morning at 11. Overall, I spent 18 hours from start to finish. This was my first XLR I have done and I must say, I like the car alot. The car didn't have the usual soft clear that most Cadi's do.
Wash via Dawn to remove any protection
Clay
Meguiars #105 via PFW @ 1500-1000 RPM's
Optimum Polish II via Orange CCS @ 1500-1000 RPM's
Optimum Finish via Green CCS @ 1400-900 RPM's
Chemical Guyz EZ Creme Glaze via White CCS @ Speed 6 on PC
Magic Wax
Optimum Car Wax
There were a few RIDS that were too deep to remove without sanding but overall the car came out great and removed about 98% of the defects and the owner was thrilled. In the end, that's all that matters.
Car on arrival
Using the flash to highlight the $8.00/hr guy at the dealership
After using the above process, I took another picture using the flash.
During the washing stage, I degreased the motor using a 4 to 1 solution, various brushes and sponges and then dressed with a water based dressing.
