C&B - My ride finally gets some love

Hey everyone... been awhile since my last post... been absolutely slammed with new business (good problem to have right) and the holidays, as great as they are, seemed to just eat up every minute of free time I had.

This was the weekend... the TBSS had been neglected long enough. I had been so busy with customers cars, my regular job, my 15mnth. old son, and general stuff around the holidays that I had barely washed it... it had been since before Halloween that it had seen a good thorough cleaning. I also haven't taken any good pics since installing the Belltech drop springs and my new tinted IPCW LED tails + 3rd brake light.

I started Saturday morning, completely detailed the interior, conditioned the leather, shampood/extracted the carpets, cleaned and dressed the plastics. I also knocked out the undercarrige, engine bay, wheels (resealed with REJEX) and tires on Saturday as well.

Yesterday (Sunday) started the big project... cleaning and buffing the paint. It wasn't in bad shape, but it did have a fair amount of swirling from some rush washes I had done.

Started with the Hydorfoamer foam gun and some optimum car wash at full strength & the 4th largest metering nozel. 2 buckets of clean water each with a grit gaurd I did a complete scrub down using a brand new sheep skin mit, rinsing the it in each bucket after every panel to be doubly sure not to contaminate the paint.

After drying with brand new WWMF towels and QD spray I attacked the paint with DER Tuff Stuff on a white durfoam pad. No need to clay as the paint wasn't that rough, but I wanted to prep.

Followed that up with multiple passes of Adams Fine Machine Polish on the white durafoam pad. Started at 4000opm, but wasn't seeing the results I wanted so bumped up to 5000opm and worked each panel until I was completely satisfied.

I followed that up with Adams Machine Superwax on the gray durafoam pad at 3000opm. I hand buffed it off with an Adams super plush mf polishing cloth.

The glass was pretty spotted so I used vinegar to get some of the more stubborn spots off, cleaned again with Invisible Glass, and topped off with Adams Brilliant Spray Glaze.

Enough talk... heres the results

Thanks for the compliments... I know its hard to get a feel for the finish in such low light... I finished around 4:45pm and the light was fading fast. I'll get some in the sun later today maybe.

Man that fender shot blew me away . What a perfect reflection . The Chevy truly looks out of this world .

Congratulations on an incredible work .

cheers , Jean Paul

Sweet truck! Nice detail. I've been behind the wheel of a TBSS before. They sure do get it done. Black is definitely the best looking color on them as well.

That is one superstar looking rig! I admire your truck but I'm glad I don't have to feed it!

Awesome. You and your family have great taste in vehicles :D Your pictures have got me hankering to try Machine Super Wax again... I wasn't blown away with it the first time, BUT my cars are silver.... It looks great on the JSB and your TBSS.

Yer tellin' me... 10-11mpg ain't too friendly on the wallet... especially when you consider it requires premium. I got to get my heavy foot under control. :lol

I've tried the MSW on silver and wasn't too impressed either... silver is such a hard color to get right. I did this BMW on friday and used Adams Buttery wax to finish it off... still not shockingly WOW like other colors, but BW finishes better on silver than MSW IMO.

REJEX on the wheels :D

Great job. How is REJEX working for you on the wheels? Is the brake dust just washing right off.

Great. The factory TBSS brakes are notoriously dusty so thats what prompted me to try rejex in the first place... when I have a decent coat of it on the rims I can literally just hose about 90% of the dust off and just finish with a little QD spray and an MF towel.

I think Buttery Wax is a pleasure to work with (and it smells great :D) but I find the durability to be lacking. Supposedly there is a "super butter" in the works which is to address this issue, but I haven't heard anything about it lately. As long as it took them to get MSW on the market I'm not holding my breath.

Machine Silver is a hard color to get to pop because it's a dark silver. Light silver can take on a shimmer that pops, but machine silver is just always kind of subdued. I find Z2/Z8 is a good combo to give at least some gloss.

On the other hand, it sure is easy to keep looking clean and I don't have to worry about swirls... so I tell myself ;)

Oh and thanks to your pictures I have ordered the full deck spoiler. You owe me about $300 when you get a chance.

Yea.... buttery doesn't last long at all. Only reason I opted to use it on that customers BMW is that it was going right into their garage under a cover and was promptly being put up for sale in Autotrader... figure it'll do the job of making it look nice for the time being and whoever buys it can come back to me for some better protection down the line.

My personal favorite of the gray/silver family to work with has been GMs spiral gray/dark charcoal metallic... thats a color that just eats up a good product and pays you back with a ridiculous shine

Enjoy that spoiler... I'll get that check in the mail right away :rofl
