Bye Zaino. I just met your replacement.

I have been using Z plus P21Sand I was happy but I had to try something else.

Well, after reading about Scottwax and Clearkote I have to give it a try.

Process:

Wash my car with Gold class shampoo.

Clay Z18

Gold class shampoo

#9 and PC Yellow pad (I will have to try with DACP later. There are some scratches and swirls left after #9)

Menzerna FP and PC white pad (Glue-zerna)

That was friday from 9 A.M to 5 P.M. you could say I am perfectionist.

Saturday.

Vanilla Moose PC black pad

Carnauba Wax PC black pad

Quick Shine.

I have also used MF 16 x 16 towels from www.packshak.com to remove the product.

I know the glue-zerna was not needed but I wanted the best reflection I could get so I give it a try.

:D

Nice job!

I did top my Zaino on my Red SC430 with Souveran Paste and after two coats BIG difference! Much deeper/wetter.

I too used Menz-FP with grey pad to burnish the finish to a very high gloss!

I just got my Megs FD which works really well.

I'm waiting for my gallon on Clearkote QS as I hear this is one hell of a QD!

Gotta love the VM/ CMW combo! All them look really stunning!

Just sprayed the underside with Megs EK on wheel wells and all suspension. Damn it if doesn't look fantastic!

Keep it up and glad to know you found something that works better for you!

Regards,

Deanski

Nice pics. :up

I take it you don't like Menzerna very much?

Car looks great, but you will have to wax it more often since Carnauba Moose isn't going to be as durable (about the same as I am getting from S100, 3 months or so) as Zaino but it seems you are willing to trade durability for the look you want.

Looks awesome!!:bow

I did the same thing this weekend, I stripped off my Zaino and did the VM and CM combo. What a great combo :xyxthumbs

Wash

Clay

alcohol/H20 each panel before VM

VM - white pad

CM - gray pad

Quikshine (awesome QD)

Hi

fidelfs - Great job! Your red corvette looks very slick.

blkyukon - Also great job! You fooled me. I asked myself why did he put up a picture of his front yard. Then I saw your Yukon badge and I was blown away. Very nice clarity and the reflections are superb. :xyxthumbs

With Aloha,

Ranney :)

WOW :shocked

Nice job on the Yukon! Gee, you can shave in that reflection!

I on the other hand still use Menzerna FP with a grey pad so it really burnishes the finish really well. I get a great shine that way.

I wanted to try the Souveran, so I figured, why not just top Z with Souveran? Worked out well. I do need to remove everything one day as I still have some light swirls that got on the darn thing from a MF towel though to be clean, but wife moved towels around. Now she's knows better!

Dying to get the QS that is being shipped. Damn it, I should have ordered VM/CMW as well. Guess I'll have to now to check that out against Souveran on the Red. So far the Megs FD is working well.

Glad to see you found that VM/CMW works for you too :xyxthumbs

Fidelfs,

The Vete looks very nice but I am questioning your application of Meguairs #9 then Menzerna FP and THEN Vanilla Moose. Since the VM has cleaners in it would that not negate the #9 and the FP you laid down first??

#9 has fillers in it I believe and it might be possible that the FP application removed the #9 anyways.

Just wondering,

Anthony

Anthony-I've used both Vanilla Moose and S100 SEC over Swirl Free Polish (Meguiars BSP version of #9) with no problems. Both #9 and SFP have enough cutting power to remove light swirls and scratches.

I think they worked well together.

When I finish #9 I could see some swirls and small scratches and believe me I took a lot of time to go over the whole car.

When I used the Glue-zerna sorry Menzerna (LOL) I saw an improvement in reflections and the swirls were less noticeable. I stop for the day.

Saturday morning I had the choice to dawn wash and go with my Z treatment or go with clearkote. I asked my wife. She has been help me the whole day. Kudos to her.

She said: “You know how Z works but if you never try that VM of yours, you will never know so that was it.

I went to VM and when I finished I saw a big difference of reflection and clarity. The difference was like day and night. Menzerna did a great job it was flawless but VM is superb.

I called Glue-zerna because I did not read all the instructions well to how to remove it. I try to remove it dry. I was sweating buckets. I sprayed a little water and to remove it was really easy.

I had the same thought about VM but I said I am using it with the gray/black pad so I am not having any pad cutting only burning the polish.

When I finish the swirls were less noticeable than before and improvement of 90 % after clay and wash. They are really hard to see. You have to know were to look to find them.

I think that is the reason that VM did not remove any of the #9 and FP.

I checked every step with my work light 1000 watts. There are some shots using the work light and no swirls.

I think they worked great together. :D

Well if you like the results then that's really all that's important:)

I believe, again this is my personal opinion, that you would of gotten great results with the DACP then the VM and then your topper.

Happy Detailing,

Anthony

I've never had a problem removing Menzerna FP, maybe it's not being broken down completely :nixweiss

I actually just used it on a friends black Passat not too long ago and it wiped right off no problem, as easy as VM.

I agree but I was afraid to go too agresive with DACP. I said I will try with #9 to see what happend.

The swirls remaining are killing me but I have to wait to recover after this marathon or my wife could divorce me. Hey I got an idea ;) .... No, don't go there LOL.

I will wait till spring (if I can survive the detail withdraw) to try DACP and VM.

Another reason I did not go to DACP was because it is my daily drive. I know I have certain amount of clear coat and paint to work with and that maybe nervous. Being this my daily drive could I aspire to have it 100% swirl/scratch free? or should I learn to live with some of them.

I second the DACP suggestion. Awesome product. I still use Swirl Free after DACP most of the time though because I think SFP deepens the shine beyond just DACP and for me has worked well under VM.

If I am just correcting a few surface defects with DACP though, I normally just go to VM and then the wax.

I noticed something when I was working on the hood. Menzerna was easy to remove but when I was moving to other areas I started noticing it was hard to do it.

It was really dry and the PC was making dust but the pad was clogging.

This could be the reason why it was hard to remove. I made a search and some others had the same problem :nixweiss who knows...

fidelfs,

Hitting your car with DACP and a PC will NOT degrade the clear coat so don't get too gun shy. The below picture is of a NSX (posted on this page somewhere) that is 12 years old and has had years of polishing on the clear and it is not thinning at all.

Scott,

I forgot to mention that if I am using DACP with a cutting pad I will always polish that out with something like Menzerna FP. It also depends on the cars color. Thanks for reminding me of that.

Anthony
