Business Licensing info

Do you mobile detailers who do not sell products bother to get Home Occupation permits?

It's only $32/yr, and my car stays religiously in the garage, therefore no signs of anything business-realted would be visible.

Any input is appreciated.

BTW, this is for a PT night and evenings venture, with little income to warant the interest of "big brother".

Thanks,

I know at least in the state of Georgia that selling products requires a different business license. Being mobile here I only needed a license for "doing business as" with my home address serving as the business premises address. Once you start selling tangible products instead of providing a service you need a different license that allows you to collect state sales tax for each and every sale. You have to report your collected tax at the end of each month and write a check for the appropriate amount to the state tax authority.

I'm sure this differs from state to state.
