Business Ideas for Mobile Detailers - Waterless and Such

So I want to start a mobile detailing business in the North East and was thinking of offering a quick detailing service to business parks. My goal is to use as little water as possible which would require ONR for dirty/salted vehicles and then a regular waterless spray such as No-Wet for everything else.

First, do you think there is a demand for this type of quick-detailing service? I'm trying to target those people who would normally run to an automatic wash just because don't have time to do it themselves. I'm not targeting those people who need a full-on 3-4 hour detailing service, just regular folks who lead a busy lifestyle. Any advice for a young up-start would be great. Thanks!

I think the quick wash idea is a good one, especially if you just bill them on a regular basis, but chances are your cleaning stragey isn't going to work on non autopian cars. ONR and QEW are great, but some cars are crusted with salt.

This is one thing that has kept me from using ONR. I do lots of SUVs and there are LOTS of dirt roads and new home construction here. A pressure washer and tank are a must for me. I did one the other day that had to be blasted 3 times in the wells just get them clean. The concrete looked orange instead of white! I use an Electric Karcher (145.00 at Costco) and 65 Gallon water tank from Tracto Supply (150.00). I use the customer's electricity too.

Sounds like a really good idea, however like justin said, there are going to be those problem cars that need a good regular hose or power wash. I also can't figure out how many mobile guys can work in direct sunlight, especially in the summer.

I'm sure other members will chime in to help you figure out these potential problems.

Good luck!!:bigups

I can figure out how mobile guys work with wind!

I could see pulling into an office park in Westchester County and getting a bunch of washes and maybe a detail. But I think you need to verify with the building management company that you can operate on their grounds.

I would approcah it like this:

YOU: Hello, is this building mgt company for 444 business park? I have been contacted by a tennant of yours to wash their car on your site at 12:00pm Wednesday. I dont use water but I just wanted to verify that I will not be asked to leave by security once I start working".

Dude it was TOUGH! Wash and rinse and dry.......FAST! This is one reason I switched to the XMT line for working in the sun. I also learned alot about hydration........the hospital way!

I always check with the owners to make sure I can detail in their lot. No brainer. If I can't, I have a place that lets me pick up and bring them to that lot. They have outside water and power too. I just wash the owners Bug for free at the end of the day!
