Bursting the Four Star bubble

Sorry guys. I live in Bradenton Fl, home base of Four Star. The owner of Four Star had been slinging his product all over this town for a while. He did ok competing with dealerships because he sold bathtub products dirt cheap. But he has never found a market with the real detail shops in the area. Now here locally he has been forced out at almost everywhere he supplied. Companies like Auto Magic and CarBrite have crushed his local business. He now sells mostly degreasers to area mechanics. His last resort was the reverse engineering job he did on some of the Meguiars and Auto Magic products. Basically he had analysis done on what was in them and tried to replicate the formulas. He now calls this stuff the four star ultimate collection. When I saw he was selling his stuff nationwide I just giggled.

Oh well, funny how the internet can let one reinvent themselves. Good luck to him.

Well, I've been trying the Four Star product range out over the last month or so and I like the products, particularly UPP. I've also been in contact with the company directly, and I've found them to be very helpful and friendly. Make of that what you will.

I think you'll find that's what a lot of manufacturers do in all areas of industry the world over. Take a competitors product, study it, work out why it's so good and then try to better it. It happens with cars, shower gel, golf clubs, jello, peanut butter...etc etc - the list goes on and on.



As far as I'm concerned (and I haven't used any 4* or Auto Magic products) 4* is talked about here at Autopia much more than Auto Magic which, to me at least, speakes volumes.

Bradenton Fl. is missing out. More for me! You should reconsider its use for your needs, really a quality product. Ive never used Auto Magic, but I sure here a lot more about Four Star then Auto Magic, no matter where I go....

Thanks David for stomping on that guy and his post so quickly. I certianly agree with your assessement the post is nothing short of slander and wish that we could take him to task in court. I love my UPP and wouldn't think of not having it in my product line up.

This guy has to be kidding me. 4* products are excellent and very user friendly. I am glad I added along side the rest of my arsenal of products which includes Menzerna, Optimum, Klasse, Hi-Temp, and Malco etc... I will tell you one thing, I have never been impressed with the longevity of Car Brite thats for sure.

My in-laws live in Bradenton. 4* isn't missing out, imo.
