BUMPER RENEWER (exterior trim dressing)

Edit: Added more pictures in a reply below.

I finally got around to trying Pro's Bumper Renewer and all I have to say is AWESOME!

This stuff does a great job at hiding wax residue and it lasts!

I've had hard baked on wax in on all my trim and have never been able to get it off nor have I found a good dressing. I've tried everything to dress the trim and it always seems to run down the paint. Horrible!

My tailgate handle was the worst as it was almost white because of all the polish and wax residue on it. (Lesson to be learned, Don't let friends use buffers on your truck. He was running it over the handle and I was like, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!" He said, "I can wipe it off with some water, watch." Yhea, the water covered it up for a few minutes!)

Well, I wish I took before and after pics! I simply went around with a terry cloth applicator and put it on all the exterior trim. You can put the stuff on thinly and it does a great job at making the trim nice and black again and the wax residue you can't even see!

I applied it, dressed the tires, and then came back and used a rag I misted with some water and quickly wiped all the trim down to get any residue. I also did this to get rid of that greasy look it had when first applied.

I drove the truck a week and it didn't run down the trim at all. It even lasted through the first wash... and the second wash! It is still black and you can't even see any wax.

Here is a pic of the tailgate handle after the second wash

I'll have to try to find some before and after pictures for you all to look at. This stuff is simply amazing and I'll keep you updated on how long it lasts. 2 1/2 weeks and 2 washes so far!

More pictures in one of my reply.

Which number product was it you used? I couldn't find the one you indicated. My eyes might just be crossed from smelling too much Einszett. : )

Thanks!

Did this cover up the wax stains or did it remove the wax stains and leave a protectant behind?

Eric

I'm guess it covered the wax up. I don't see the wax on the trim anymore though. I'll probably wash the truck again for the third time tomorrow or possibly friday so I'll see how well this stuff is holding up. So far it is looking good!

Today I did a third wash on my truck.

The plastic molding around my rear window is starting to show the stains again. It doesn't seem to absorb dressings well though.

The back tailgate handle still isn't showing any of the wax marks. Awesome! It doesn't have that dark greasy black look. It looks more like a natural black. Like the piece is OEM black and not black from having a dressing on it. I really like the look.

Hey Intel is some of the trim metal that you applied it too as well?

What do you mean? This dressing is only for plastic pieces.

Hhmmmmm...is that a swirl I see above the handle?:nono

No, my tailgate is currently smeared up with some Glazes I've been testing out. That is probably from 3M's IHG.

My truck is never in a complete state of detail. It is mainly a testing bed. Always trying out new waxes, letting some areas go awhile w/o wax or anything so I can try out a new polish, etc.

Haven't polished my roof for 7 or 8 months. It has some oxidation on it so I'll be testing out some polishes and cleaners on it real soon.

I took some pics today of a vehicle I used this stuff on. I'll have to get those off my camera soon.

Here are more pictures...

1/2 dressed, 1/2 not. Leave it up to you to figure out which side is dressed and which isn't. :D

Here it is all dressed. You can see the one wax stain is gone.

I spoke to the Pro the sales department on Friday and was told Bumper renewer just covers up the stain, but lasts a long time. The reason BR last is because BR is pure silicone.

Pro's Bumper Renewer is a water-based dressing. The MSDS sheet lists Water, Dimethylpolysiloxane, glycerine, Tall Oil, and Ester alcohol. The Silicone in it is a non-migratory silicone.

I was just quoting what the rep from Pro told me about BR being Silicone based. I knew BR is water based from the Pro website.

Eric

I was just providing a little more info on the type of silicone and what else is in BR. That is all.

Thanks Intel. There's a black boarder around my Coupe's top and it runs down the side of the windshield. I have been looking for something that stays awhile. EO, Mother's and Meq all streak when they get wet.

Was just wondering how the BRenewer might hold up better.
