Built S/C Trailblazer SS - Mirror Detailing

MirrorDetailing

New member
Went down to Hunters Performance today, to do a 2-Step Package on the Procharged Trailblazer Hunter just finished. Truck was in bad need of a detail. Paint was pretty rough and needed claying badly, plus the paint was rather hazy from the mass amount of scratches/swirls. So Hunter wanted to at least get 70-80% correction on the paint to make it looking good for the customer. Paint corrected real nice and resulted in 90-100% correction of the swirls/sratches which in turn really let the flake in the paint pop.

Process:

Wash - CG Citrous Wash'n'Gloss

Wheels - Diablo Wheel Gel

Clay - Pinn. Ultra Poly Clay w/ ONR Lube

Taped Off w/ 3M Green Automotive Tape

Buffing:

1-Step - SIP via GG DA w/ LC Orange Pad

1-Step M205 via GG DA w/ Tangerine Hydrotech Pad

IPA Wipedown

LSP - XXX Hard Core Wax

Windows - Stoners Invisible Glass

Tires - Pinn. Black Onxy Tire Gel

Once I was done with just over half the truck, I had to back it out and turn it around. So I figured I would grab some sun shots of the current completed panels to see what the true results were...

MachNU- Nice work!

Having just bought a TBSS, I had to check out this thread :D Sounds like the clear isn't quite as hard as "normal GM clear"; no way those single-pass combos would've done so much on my other GMs, but they were enough for this TBSS

LS1-MEX- Yeah, those wheels do look good. Probably wouldn't last a week with the roads in my area though :(

Accumulator, what year and color is your TBSS? I had a silverstone metallic '07 AWD myself. Congrats on your purchase... and enjoy the gas mileage! :heh:

Sorry to say I'm not a particular fan of the 22" wheels on the NBM truck in this thread but as for the work done to it, excellent! :spot

That's the same thing I got! '07 AWD in Silverstone. The big selling point was that it only has 9K miles; basically showroom new. And *no* nav or video, neither of which I wanted. I already have the chrome bowtie for the front and I'm gonna debadge it once I get around to doing its major detail.

Eh, the gas mileage probably won't be much worse than what it replaced (Yukon XLD with another 6.0) and at least this doesn't take up so much room. Not really as well-suited for dog-hauling as I'd expected though, now that I've actually tried fitting their stuff inside it :( It's *almost* a complete "oops, wrong vehicle" situation :o

I was kinda surprised that I liked those on that truck myself, but then I'm just looking at pix too

The paint was no as hard as I expected. Hell I went down with my Dewalt and some Wool pads in tow figuring it was going to be like every other GM paint..rock hard. But doing 6-8 section passes with moderate pressure with SIP and a LC Orange with the Griots did a mass amount of the correction.

MachNU- Thanks for that info, I'm gonna keep it in mind. Yeah, I would've been thinking about those really aggressive measures too, bet you were glad it went the way it did.

Sounds like you bought the twin of my old truck.. it too was a 3SS and had no nav or video. The pic I posted was from the day I traded it in with only 12,500 miles on it. Just got tired of some little issues it had so I decided to trade it in since I needed a full size pickup to haul stuff anyway. I miss it sometimes, but I'm much, much happier with my current truck.
