Building an Autopian Detailing Arsenal?

Alright,

I am looking to finish out my detailing arsenal and I am looking for some help. I currently use P21S and Klasse for protection. I have a PC and currently have 3M IHG and 3M IMG. It is my understanding that both of these products, IMG and IHG, have fillers to fill in swirls, etc, and only have mild abrasive properties.

With that said, I am looking for for a medium-abrassivness, non filling, polish that is suitable for overhauling "bad" paint. After searching the 3M site I am also under the impression that IMG and IHG are being discontinued, as I don't see them any more, so I would also like some recommendations on a very mild polish/glaze, or a product safe to use on a regular basis that has fillers to hide scratches and swirls. I also need to find a good QD for my arsenal. I planned to purchase some Megs Final Inspection, but would like to entertain other opinions and comments.

So to recap: I would like some recommendations for:

1) medium abbrasive, non-filler polish

2) vey mild abbrasive polish/glaze with fillers

3) a quick detailer

I am not interested in high dollar, exotic products, just a quality product.

Thank you,

1. 3M Perfect It III Machine Glaze and Rubbing Compound both leave a nice finish as far as I can see (detailer also has a part in this.) Meguiar's Dual Action Cleaner Polish #83 also fit the bill. Both are available at local body shop or Sherwin Automotive stores. www.handsontools.com Seems good too for Meguiar's and 3M.

2. Very mild abrasive with fillers, Meguiar's #9 or 3M SMR come to mind.

3. QD - Meguiar's #34 at a gallon for $20-$25 is a deal.

These products are not exotic like Pinnacle (doesn't even offer anything stronger than PPCL) does P21S fit into the exotic catagory? Zymol, shudders in pain, and Blackfire/Platinum seem kind of high dollar too.

Man, you're fast on the trigger, Jason.

I second Jason's nominations. The ones I have used and like are:

1) DACP

2) 3M SMR for dark cars (light cars is the same, but with light fillers)

3) #34 Final Inspection

I use 1 and 3 all the time. After I discovered DACP, I use SMR less and less, since I only need it for swirl removal, and need to remove the oils and fillers for Klasse anyway. I would use SMR for vehicles that I am going to wax though. The fillers work great.

Haha, yes I admit it, I get trigger happy most of the times out on the range. Seems the same on Autopia for certain questions.

Anyway back to topic.

After playing around with several SMR type products, I have settled on Meguiar's #9 and some other abrasive I'm testing.

Valugard also makes some no frills products that gets the job done at a cheap cost, definately a quality product (I use their odor terminator, Machine Polish, and OEM One step + finishing wax (sometimes carnauba cream) on beaters. www.autoint.com

I don't like their QD aka Wonderwash though, Meguiar's #34 just performs better IMHO.
