Buick Regal V. SSR, EX, Natty's Blue

J.J.

DEEP & WET
I decided to detail my Dad's 99' Buick Regal while I was visiting a couple of weeks ago. As always I forgot to take before pictures. I think the afters are OK, but I feel they could be better. THis was my third and final detail using the Chicago Electric Rotary. The Makita's on the way :woot:

Process:

1. Wash

2. DP clay

3. SSR 2 via rotary using sonus orange cutting pad ~1750 rpm

4. SSR 2.5 via PC using green sonus pad ~ setting 4 (was still having difficulty with holograms)

5. EX via PC using blue pad at setting 3

6. Natty's Blue by hand

That's all!

Like I mentioned, I wish it would have turned out better. I feel I definitely have room for improvement.

I love that front full shot. It really looks wet in that one!

Nice job, I'm sure the paint was in pretty bad shape when you started. I'm sure you couldn't do much better than you did!

:dance

Looks very nice, very glossy! I'm curious what the white specks are on the horizontal surfaces in the first few pix?

EDIT: Were they caused by tree sap?

WOOT! Its a GS. :) Any mods on 'er? BTW, looks very wet. :)

Ha! I knew you'd like is Steve :woohoo: No mods. The car is driven by my Step-mother who is a 4th grade school teacher. I don't think speed is her primary desire!

As for the spots, I really can't answer that question definitively. I think it could be wax residue left in rock chip defects, or it could be wax residue left in etching. Both of my last two details have been on 99' model cars and both had the same spots appear. Maybe someone with more experience can elaborate on what that is.

Olympus D-550? Nice under-rated camera!

That's pretty impressive. The camara was considered under- rated by many when I bought it. At the time, it was labeled as a very good camara- not the best but very adequate. Everytime I think of replacing it, I decide not to. I can't seem to justify buying another one.
