Bugs and Scuffs

Just got back from a 500 mile drive deep into Kentucky. Of course my car is covered with bugs. I am going to wash it in the morning but wanted to have a bug remover handy, should I need it. I've read that some Autopians like Turtle Wax bug remover. I also have seen at a car store Meguiars bug remover. Any thoughts on how these two products compare? I also see that CMA sells a bug removing sponge. Has anybody tried it?

Also, along the way, I picked up a few scuffs (as if from a shoe heel) on the plastic trim inside my car. Any suggestions on how to remove without damaging the plastic?

Thanks,

Boongie

I would just use your normal car wash soap and a bug pad along with a pressure washer (your own or the local coin-op car wash). I've yet to find a bug remover that really does a great job.

Just make sure you get the bugs off before they etch the paint.

As for the scuff marks, mix up in a spray bottle 6 parts water and 1 part Woolite (yes, the laundry soap). Spray it on the scuff marks, and scrub with a stiff, plastic bristle brush. Should come right off and the Woolite/water mix is delicate enough so it won't fade the panel. It makes a great leather cleaner too.

Try this works for me , as long as the bugs havent been on there for to long. Take a misting type spray bottle of clean water start from one wing mirror and spray round the car to the other mirror with a fine mist of water. With a terry towel if the car is well waxed the bugs should just wipe away. It works for me, i never need to use any seperate product. Maybe our uk bugs arn't as hard to remove as yours! Now i have been able to get Meguiars products over here i now just Final inspection/ quick detail the panels after wiping.

Hope this helps

hmm, let's see

I'll either use the QD (soak) and wipe and roll up method with a microfiber towel.

Or i'll take some PBS in a foam dispenser and let the foam sit and then use the wipe and roll up method with a microfiber towel.

Or I'll take some PBS in a foam dispenser or let QD soak (add a bit of tissue to keep it wet on the bug) and then spritz it off with a good sprayer with water.

Oh yeah, had some success with goo gone on shoe scuffs.
