A few years ago, I had a fender bender with a mercedes clk 430 i was driving. the head lamp had been scratched pretty good and my insurance adjuster told me i didn't need a new one because my body shop should be able to "buff" the scratches out.
sure enough, they did and the head lamp looked brand new. only problem was that the other lamp no longer matched.
its buffing scratches from a head lamp similar to buffing paint? does anyone know the exact procedure for doing this? i have hesitated from hitting any head lamps with compound or even polish because i don't want to ruin anything.
