Buffed out my BMW 325 BAUR

my car has alot of swirls, not terrible, but alot by Autopia standards. I take care of my car really well, i only drive it in the summer, i wash it twice a week, and usually wax once a month. well that was all with those walmart products such as meguiars cleaner wax and gold class and turtle wax F21 "polish". It was time to let the big guns out on my car! Last year some jealous kid at my school dragged his backpack around on my hood and created a few scratches..... so i tried to remove them with turtle wax polish which didnt work so i bumped it up to turtle wax rubbing compound. OH my GOD who would need something this strong????? It scratched my hood up like no other and creates tons and tons of marring. Luckily i was able to remove all swirls and marring, most scratches, and make the car look alot better. There are still scratches in my paint, maybe i can remove them later. I only had time for the hood tonight.

Process:

DP clay

XMT3 orange LC pad

XMT2 white CCS pad to remove buffer swirls

Klasse AIO white CCS pad

Klasse SG grey CCS pad

Tomarrow i will apply Liquid Souveran

Before, look at what the rubbing compound did. (i only rubbed it on the corner of my hood where the scratches were)

How about some full car shots! We want to see the real thing! :) Just kidding, it seems like you made a marked improvement in the paint condition!

car is looking good so far. did you at least kick the dude in the nuts or the shin?

i never found out who did it. they couldnt tell from the security cameras either. the sractes were white when i first saw them , but a year of "polishing" and waxing has hidden them decently. They are still there and bother me alot. :(

Now we know that turtle wax compound is a big :nono

Nice turn around though, the Liquid Souveran should really make a difference.

post pics even if you're not done... it's a BMW.. our cars are meant to take up webspace and be stared at :grinno:

good job on the hood btw... if the scratches are still there, find an experienced autopian near you and I'm sure they'll help you out and do a few scratches for cheap/free... I know I would, especially on a bimmer... YES i'm very obsessed haha

Chicago.. 2 mins East from Foster/Central/Milwaukee intersection

its an 325es TopCabriolet BAUR. Its a rare convertible conversion that was not sold to the US. my car is Euro spec except for US diving board bumpers :( Since BMW didnt make their own convertibles untill 87 or 88, you had to find yourself one of these. google it, its a pretty interesting car.

What a nice and unique (for us here in the U.S.) car . I think this is the first time I see a bimmer like that.. Great job on the detail..

yep, you probably havent seen one here in the US. The guy who originally owned it used to live in germany with the car, but moved his business to the US, eventually i got hold of this car! its a blast! i like it alot, very unique. Some people dont like it tho, the top looks weird to them, :(

Very nice afters and reflection. However, it looks like there might be a tiny bit of micromarring left? Did you try a final polish?

my products that i own consist of XMT3 and 2, Klasse AIO and SG, and pinnacle liquid souveran. i think i might need another polish. does AIO remove swirls? i cant even tell if it doesn anything at all.
