Looking for some nice wheel brushes.

I'm looking for some nice; nylon (or similar) bristle brushes with long handles (preferred) for door jams and wheels.

Something similar to these; that are relatively inexpensive...

My favorite ghetto brushes....

I just bought a toilet brush of all things, with a kinked handle at Wal Mart to use for wheel wells. It was about $2, and it works very well at doing the wheel wells. When it gets gunky, I will replace it.

I also love the foam paint brushes with the plastic handles that come in assortment packs (assorted widths) for about $3. These work great for getting into crevaces on wheels, and around lug nuts. Again, each brush works out to be about $.30, so I just toss it out after a couple of uses, and get a new one out of the pack.

I stick with Boar's Hair Brushes from Griot's and AutoGeek. All are not created equal though, so buyer beware.

If you're gonna use 'em on doorjambs (or painted wheelwells) I'd be *very* careful to pick something that won't mar, and CD-test it frequently. I use my EZ Detail brushes for some stuff, but not on paint; they sure don't pass a CD-test.

The wheel brushes from Griot's (pns 92546 & 92547) are good for large areas of the wheels and their set of smaller BHBs (pn 15520, I've recommend pn so often I've memorized it!) has a round one that's great around lugs and flat ones that're great for doorjambs, fuel filler pockets, etc. I never do a wash without them.

The AutoGeek BHBs for wheels didn't impress me as favorably as the Griot's, but that's just IMO.

Only brush I use is for the wheel wells by Mothers. I like it because it can reach the hard areas.

I like those brushes because of the rubber bumpers. Great for stock wheels.

The bristles on my griots brush are longer than the ones on my autogeek brush, which is awesome. I just wish the plastic was coated with a little bit of rubber. I hate the sound it makes when i accidentally bump it into the rim.

'haha.. forgot to include this one as well... I :believe: it has the same bristles as the EZ detail. very soft. Plus you get 3 (?) brushes for $10. definitely wouldn\'t use on paint but on wheels, exhaust, etc for sure. good for those \'hard to reach\' places :chuckle: \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The S.M. Arnold brush is my preference for wheels. It's inexpensive, has soft bristles and is the perfect size to fit between my spokes...

Spoke & Slot Brush

EDIT: oops...just realized the op asked about long-handled brushes. Well, the above is certainly not that, but if anyone doesn't mind short-handled brushes, S.M. makes a good one.

Thanks for the tips guys.

Yeah; the reason I'm looking for longer brushes is so I can reach into and on the back side of a 10" wide wheel. I've got big hands/arms and can't reach through the spokes a lot to get back there.

Looks like I'll be giving some of these a try.

Thanks!

jesselyons2002- Those Infinity wheels you pictured are chrome, right? They oughta do fine with those brushes, I bet that finish isn't nearly as delicate as painted/clearcoated wheels.

Heh heh, you must be putting a little oomph into it if you're bumping the rim despite those long bristles :D

Other than reaching far into wheelwells and towards the middle of the car when doing the undercarriage, I find that long handles are less desirable than I'd expected. Must be a matter of leverage, but I generally prefer *short* handled brushes for most jobs unless I need the extra reach.

Actually I use the same exact brush on my other 18 G35 OEM rims. No marring or scratches

Ah, sounds like you have your needs figured out :xyxthumbs

I keep erring on the side of caution (with the exception of the Blazer); I still find my cleared wheels mar pretty easily :nixweiss

It's the O.Z. Ultraleggeras! I have to dig deep to clean the sides of the spokes, and on occasion the brush bumps something :nervous:

Ah, OK, now I follow! Same kinda situation I have with the BBS RGRs I put on the M3, which fortunately have a pretty tough finish that I don't have to pamper.
