Brake Dust!

I just detailed a 2000 Grand Caravan and the chrome rims were covered with brake dust. Anyway, nothing I had would touch it. I tried P21S wheel cleaner and a brush, and the gel version. Nothing. The customer said that the rims were warrantied once before for pitting and that the dealership told her that she was not to use an acid based cleaner or they wouldn't warranty them again. What else is there to clean them. The only way I could get it off was with my fingernail. I gave her a discount because of the problem, but it makes me look bad business like. Any suggestions?

Eagle One A2Z in the orange bottle is not acidic and could work.

Is the chrome rims clear coated? If not clear coated could have luck using a metal polish.

Try using A2Z on the wheels when are are cool and dry. Do one at a time and leave the A2Z on the wheel for about a minute, and then lightly agitate with one of those green white scrubbing pads for dishes (the plastic ones). You are only rubbing on the surface of the brake dust, so it should be ok. With rims this bad, there is bound to be some etching from the dust anyway, so you're going to have to finish up with some sort of polish on them. I have had some success with this combination on really really bad rims.
