Bonding?

After much reading

found a post in which Mike Philips stated

"NXT Tech Wax will bond over the #7 and any Meguiar's polish".

"A wax will no more remove a coating of #7 Show Car Glaze than will a good wipe with a microfiber polishing cloth. When you wipe #7, or any product off the surface, except for a microscopic thin layer, you are in essence removing most of what is laying on top of the surface. Especially with microfiber. If you want to leave more polish or more wax behind on the finish, use 100% cotton toweling. The fibers in a 100% cotton towels are much larger and thus unable to remove films as thoroughly as the microscopic fibers typical of a microfiber".

OK my goal here

#80/#7/WGx2

So based on Mr Philips previous statements

WG & NXT are polymers, different formulas but polymers

So if NXT will bond to #7:cool:

MY #80/#7/WGx2 should work

I will use MF to polish proir to WG application that should ensure bonding for base coat

Second WG application will bond to base layer and hopefully give a really deep/wet finish

May add third coat if desired effect is not there

Wish me luck:bounce

I wouldn't say that nxt is a sealant, more of a synthetic wax. Its durablity is no where near the durability of sealants. That's why it can bond with #7.

#20 is meg's sealant.

Agree

However the important point here!

they are both polymers

WG

on their website state

The difference lies in the paint-friendly, water-based formula. Rather than rely on the usual synthetic solvents found in most sealants, we’ve built Deep Gloss Paint Sealant on an oil-in-water emulsion with high-tech “super polymers.

SO

being a oil/water based and from

other info

I really think it will work, if i can just get a base layed down then

Will remove WG coats with terry cloth final coat with mf

Yep the more i read the more i,m inclined to think it work

:bounce

:D

thnx for the input BW,

just what i was hoping for confirmation for my combo

:bounce

Do you think i need to MF prior to WG application?

or can I use terry towel?

Dont want to remove to much #7 but want ensure WG can bond?

:bow

thnx

Yesterday I used WG cleaner, VM and #7 on "each third" of my red SS Craftsman tool box top. Applied WG and EX-P to "front and back" halves of each part. As far as I can tell everything was OK.

It worked so well I started to wonder about durability and "staying" power of these two sealants over #7 in the real world. Will try out #7 with EX-P or WG on a black and white but not for several weeks.

I really couldn't feel or see much difference in any of these combinations.:nixweiss
